you have guys getting their walking papers. what are you going to do for them.
What a great time for an ALPA rally!
When are you guys gonna recall Prater? I'd go to that rally! But this one if like pissing in the wind. What will you be asking for?
age 70
...sorry to burst your bubble...but with oil at 135, a slowing economy, an incoming Democratic President, record airline losses, and a fractured sorry excuse for a union.....all the feelgood cheerleading in the world isn't going to deliver what the Herndon snake oil salesmen are selling......Drink the koolaid if it makes you feel good....but watch out for the hangover.....
Some would argue that a new Democratic president might be the best hope for pilot labor. But just because there are some hard lines being drawn in the sand, should not mean that we should have a defeatist attitude. You have to keep pushing forward no matter what. Life is not perfect.
The difference between the successful and the unsuccessful, is that the successful were willing to try, fail, and get up and do it all over again.
First you have to ask what is best for the economy and for the industry....Pilot labor will get nowhere with a poor economy and an industry that is losing money.....It doesn't do any good to strike a company that is losing money.....
Next you have to ask if your union is doing all it can to unify the membership.....It doesn't appear so.....
Attend the rally if it makes you feel better.....

Enjoy your ATR. Clowns like you are half the reason why our pay at the majors has gone down the way it has. What an idiot.
We need more of this doom and gloom rollover and die mentality from a pilot group. We have given alot over the years, pay, work rules , and ultimately our respect and credibility, and you want to give more. Seems you don't even want to support any kind of improvement at all. This industry has its ups, downs, and furloughs. It is the nature of this business, but does that mean we should throw ourselves under a bus. We have got to draw a line somewhere, we might not get everything we what, but having a "what's the point attitude" will get us nothing.
Coming from someone who works for peanuts and no health insurance.![]()
I'm not sure CAL is really considered a 'major' anyway is it?
The pay ain't great - but it's going to get better. Unlike that s**tbag that continuously craps on CAL and hasn't worked a day there in his life. I doubt the pay will get better for a long time.
I tried to look at the long term and something that would fit my lifestyle. I am tried and true a military guy. I LOVE serving my country and therefore enjoy the balance that flying for an airline gives along with serving your country in either the ANG or the AF Reserves. Thank you for your service to our country and for protecting us against the terrorists. Do you find a lot of terrorists while hanging out here on flightinfo?
CAL - in my opinion and long before I worked there - has hands down the best customer service in the industry. Time and time again we win awards on best airline for customer service. Poo poo them all you want. And honestly, I don't give a rat's a$$ what airline you fly for - I'm not out to crap all over it. That's where the big separation between him and I take place. You can win as many awards as you want if you pay enough for them. Personally, I would rather see them pay the new hires more instead of another silly JD Power award!
If you fly the MD11 for Fedex, I say good on you. Consider yourself fortunate in times like this. I like Fedex myself and think it's a very well run company - like SWA. I'm sure Fred and Herb appreciate it! On the other hand, I think your guy is running CAL into the dirt.
And yes - CAL is a 'major.' It's actually the only 'major' that happened to post a much smaller loss Q1 than any other 'major' out there. And I'll make a bet with you when all this oil crap is said and done, we'll come out meaner and leaner than any other 'major' and with a top notch contract. Congrats on losing all that money. You must be very proud of your management.
And if you have a beef with me personally - please PM me anytime. We can settle that anyway you'd like. I don't have a beef with you. I just think you sound like an idiot always in some sort of dick measuring contest with regional guys. Are you short and pudgy? Go play some Kenny Loggins or something. Maybe you'll feel better about yourself.

I think I just threw up in my mouth alittle.... CAL and customer service don't really go together in the same paragraph.
My .02 like it or leave it.
Hope you guys make it lots of buds over there! And hope we make it i'm here.
Dude, who in the f**k are you? Do you fly for CAL? You've bashed the CAL rally for 3 posts in a row. You don't want to attend or watch...great, get the hell away. EVEN in times of a tough economy and EVEN in times of possible furloughs, our pilot group at CAL can still rally to show unity to each other - and that's the main reason I'll be there.

If you would, please enlighten us as to the airline(s) that do provide the domestic/intl service we think we have but according to your vast experience, don't.

In my vast experience, I worked at XJT and (3) other airlines now, didn't go to CAL never really wanted to live at any of the bases, and commuting BL0ws.
That being said, I spent a long time working side by side with alot of the CAL work group. Sorry to generalize, however the service from the ground crews and often the inflight is pretty poor. Pilots are pilots, doesn't matter who you work for, I'm not goin down that road, never had a problem. I took several intl. trips and commuted on a weekly/bi-weekly basis. Lots of time in the front and the back.
Frankly, I had a much nicer time on Delta (which has its deamons too) Domestic, and Intl. I was treated better, and I saw better customer service. I don't work there either.
So after nearly a decade of commuting and such, I don't care for the NWA service at all, AA I avoid, and any of the UAL connections are just scarry not to mention uncomfortable. I'm not trying to turn this into a $#it on session ok. But you asked.
Soooo like I said, its just my .02 good luck, I have lots of friends there.... this is a forum every one's got an opinion, this one's mine GET OVER IT.
this is the longest post ever.... D@MNIT I got sucked in...
......a Kit Darby seminar.......

I agree CAL needs more unity. When 200 guys, some of which are scabs show up for a rally in a base with 2000+ pilots there is a little problem.
Is this forum really a place to advertise? Do CAL pilots (and sympathizers from other carriers one of which is me!) have a better chance to find out about the rally reading this forum then from their MEC (ALPA) emails?
.
That ATR driver you look down on may also be you ALPA brother f*cktard!
