CO today received certification to begin using the first of three new training devices for 737 pilot training. The new simulator uses state-of-the-art technology that provides a significantly higher level of flight fidelity.
This, coupled with a new type of simulator visual system that incorporates satellite imagery, creates a virtually real flight deck environment. Additionally, the new simulator uses less than 25 percent of the electricity of the older type simulators.
CO’s other two new devices are expected to be certified for training Dec. 3 and January 21, 2010, respectively
These new additions to CO’s training fleet will allow a seamless transition to an all NG 737 fleet in the future.
How soon?

latest SEC filing showed 34 737-500's still on property at the end of 2010.

I would assume that we will still have old school 737's into 2011.. especially if the economy keeps improving into 2010. Even old lift is better than no lift~
