I heard that Doug Parker has said that he was looking to merge with another carrier and stated that the USAir deal was a great success and was looking to do it again.

Any truth to that?

What he's said is that he sees more mergers taking place and that he's always looking for a good deal. In other words he was appropriately noncommittal but left open the possibility for anything. I wouldn't worry about anything happening to US anytime soon.

I think "boy wonder" has his plate full right now. He really never has taken the time to grow pre-merger AWA. His only attempt at any significant growth was our poorly thought out attempt at transcon flying a few years ago which was nothing more than a knee-jerk reaction to Jet Blue's entry out of LGB and OAK to JFK. He's good at slash and burn and keeping CASM in line, but as far as managing growth, the jury's still out.
