They said cleared to land xxx mcdill then the looked back down at their USA today. C17 responded back and landed at wrong airport. Most people realize their are about to land on wrong airport and go around. This one did not. Sucks. But it will happen again. Hopefully not to you or me

Stick a fork in that crew, they are done! If found to be pilot error (and how can it not be) they will all be busted and probably downgraded in qualification. Seen it happen to a whole crew for a much less public incident.

Beauty of being military is that no one gets to see your military flight records, except the Form 5. So mil guys never have to admit to things like busted check-rides, landing at the wrong airport, gearing up perfectly good aircraft etc.

Its hard when Civilian trained pilots have every written test and check-ride, training etc on file with the FAA and have to compete with individuals who can hide this type of stuff. I am eluding to its not fair. You obviously are also fully aware of this inequality based on your response.

What does not exist does not need to be hidden.

Military pilots (well, Army anyway) do not fail checkrides or have at fault incidents or accidents so there is nothing to hide. Written exams are the most difficult known in the world of aviation testing and all are passed with scores of 100% or better. The screening process involved to be accepted into a military flight school and the almost impossible task for a mere human to graduate from these courses of instruction remove any possiblity of a failure on the part of a military aviator.

Everything about this particular event was planned and carried out to perfection. It is just not within the realm of knowledge and experience of civilian pilots to grasp the concepts and reality behind such an operation.

Of course it isn't fair when a civilian pilot competes with a military aviator for a job. That's obvious. Would it be fair for the local high school football team to play against the World Champion New York Giants? Was it actually fair for Michael Spinks to fight Mike Tyson? Should the carp swim with the piranha? Well, of course not; Life is not fair.

Just remember that when you read of some supposed "accident" or "incident" involving a military aviator, there is more there than meets the untrained eye of the civilian. That crew will have a spotless record and skills unthinkable to the lowly civilian puke. So, keep one's green eyed monster in ones pants and bow to the superiority that is the Military Aviator!!
