I happened to swing by Opalocka the other day checkin out the old iron (dc-7s, -3s, etc) when I noticed a lone C-123 parked on the tarmac. Pretty decent shape too.

Looked it up, here it is..

Anyone know the story on this 123? And how many left in flying condition???

A few years beck there were 3 sitting on the ramp at New Smyrna.

I believe its owned by Robinson Air Crane INC, out of Miami , from what i know they service UH-1F, UH-1H, UH-1L, and UH-1P. Mostly likely used from transporting parts are there based in Miami.

There are a few of them around the US at Museums. There is still many flying around the world.

Those are great birds. We used to use them when we'd go jump someplace. Local. I have lots of time riding in the back of those, scambling over the rollers to get to the door.

Remember taking off, K Model, with jets on the wings, the jets shut down, we motor along for a few, then jets back on, right engine feathered, back to land. Lots of fire trucks, engine fire light was on.
