As a currently furloughed ABX 767 pilot, NO there are not "plenty of aircraft to go around".

Go around to whom, to guys that are flying the same plane for less than 1/2 of what I was making. The captains at amerijet are paid less than our F/O's. So again why would you not want the planes to stay at a company that pays a livable wage for flying a plane that can generate a good profit margin, even with an adequately paid flight crew. I would think that you would want to possibly get hired at such a company considering once off probation you would double your salary......... call me crazy but I go to work to make money, not just so I can say look at the cool 20 year old glass cockpit I get to fly.

P.S. I will not even getting into the whole scope argument because that is a lost cause with our current management.
Please, don't turn this into a flame war. I know what it is like to be furloughed, so please let your emotions rest for a moment.

We at Amerijet are doing our best to obtain a contract from which we will make a livable wage. Many of the Captains have been fighting for the union for years. Please don't put us down because of a situation we were forced into. Before 9/11, the pilots at Amerijet made more money than most flying the same fleet type. In fact, it was almost DOUBLE what they are making now. Their pay cuts were forced upon them, because no union would consider them for representation. The company took the money from the pilots without a vote, consultation, or even a hint.

Do you want the planes there? No. Do I? Yes. I want my job back just as much as you want yours back. Even though we disagree on that, it does not give anyone the right to put our pilot group down for things that the pilot group could not have controlled.

As fellow Teamsters, you should be supporting our efforts!

Hey Box, hold your tongue until the new CBA is done, if it ever gets that far. The people still working at ABX will be working far more hours for far less pay than what you an I were used to.

As they say...those in glass houses...

Well lets see, it takes money to convert them which we do not have, a contract with a company that needs freight moved which we do not have, how many do you see being converted with no money or work for them so you can get your job back?

Money, are you kidding me. Lets see, a plane worth 5 million with no door + 10 million for a door = market value of what at least 25 million, that cost 15 million to get. Yeah I can see how a banker would not want any of that action. Hell if I had a spare 10million I would call Joe myself, loan him the money and hope he defaults on the payments so I could go get my asset back.

Joe could find the money, he is jerking you and me around. I know it, if you dont know it you need to wake up. As far as my job, it is gone, and gone for good. Age 65, DHL, and our limit of a 7 year recall has assured that I will not get back to ABX, but thanks for caring.

The banks have asked ABX to sell the freighter's they have to start paying back the debt. Incase you have not been watching things are not very good in the Banking industry. ABX is almost certain to go bankrupt. Do you have any freinds in the Banking world that would be willing to lend ABX some money, that might get the rolling on your great conversion plan.

Wait a minute, Hete said that there is absolutely no way that we are going out of business, and we should be more than happy to give him all of our severance pay for our continuing pension fund.

WAKE UP PEOPLE!

Maybe they want my $503 a week from Unemployment. How long would that take to buy a 25 year old aircraft?

My point exactly! Hete also told DR without the severance money ABX would most likely file for bankruptcy. Still want to move forward with your door program?

Oh, the once mighty and proud runways of KILN….They safely brought beautiful aircraft of all makes and models in on her long legs. Once the sole home of proud ABX, now home to ABX and Astar with aircraft coming in from many different companies. Why she even had an Antonov take out one of her light poles, but not one peep from her. But I think I hear the low, deep groaning signaling the start of a very loud cry when/if she is home to this: (it helps if you make the sound effect{{rrrreeeeeeeeeeeee rrrrrreeeeeeeeeeee}})

And out comes........22 clowns, if you can believe it.

Oh my god! Why didn't I think of that! Dammit!

I've got a bridge in Brooklyn for sale that they could use for testing. Why not make it a fixture in Wilmington too?

Well, while reading FedEx/UPS gossip, there is a thread on APC stating that ATI is getting ABX planes. I guess they have one on the ramp/on paperwork (N748AX)

More detail over there.
