How about the theory that the earth is only 6,000 years old, carbon-dating is a sham, and everything in the Old Testament is a literal truth and should be taught as science. Wait a second! That's what they're teaching our kids in some states!

This sounds like a fun one...

Not for nothing, but a few months back the Discovery channel aired a show asking the same question. And during the course of the show they had many experts for both sides.

Some of the experts were pros in the Photo industry. They showed how some photos that were supposed to be taken at different parts of the moon at different times were actually the same pictures only reversed. They were using mountain ranges and such to prove their points.

They also used things like sun position and earth position to prove that additional lighting was used in most pictures, and adjusted some of the speeds on the movies of them ridding around on the moon mobile and it looked like it was ridding around on just some ordinary dirt road.

One other one I remember was a guy showing how there is no dust on the landing gear and no blast marks from the rocket that was supposed to help them land. He said something like,"since the dust is very fine it should have been everywhere and was'nt".

Some things just have to make you think. We all know the gov. is pretty much able to do what it wants most of the time. I am not saying that we did or did'nt just that there are some really good theorys with some min. evidence that it may have been staged.

After all if you think back to the time and how much of a rush there was to get there(politically), anything is possible.

I question everything.

Any irony in the fact that OJ Simpson was one of the astronauts in Capricorn One?

"How about the theory that the earth is only 6,000 years old, carbon-dating is a sham, and everything in the Old Testament is a literal truth and should be taught as science. "

This theory is just like the one that 'God' is a grey-haired, old puppet-master in the sky and he only looks out for white Protestant Christians and so everyone else is doomed. In a couple hundred years (or so) I hope we've evolved to the point of doing away with this nonsense.

About the moon ...
The day the landing took place I was watching it (I was six or seven) on an old B&W tele with my grandfather and the minute they stepped down the power went out in the little rural community we lived in. My grandfather walked off mumbling "Well now they've done it! I hope they jab their a$$ on that thing."

He thought the moon was sharp and pointy at the ends like most drawn pictures (the quarter moon profile). :D

For conspiracy theories, try looking in the ygbsm section and look for the Chemtrails thread. Kooks out there believe the government is flying "spray" planes over the population (they're seeing contrails).

Can you imagine being one of the Apollo astronuats and most everynight you can look up and see the moon.

Everynight you look up, and your automatically brought back to that time frame in your life, and the history that was being made.

Most of us just have photos to look at, these guys see it.

A government conspirecy, yea right.

I guess Grissom, White, Chaffe are with Jimi hendrix, Jim Morrison, and Elvis.

Then tragedy, not in space but on the ground. On January 27, 1967, during a preflight test for the fist manned Apollo mission a fire takes the lives of Gus Grissom, Ed White and Roger Chaffe. There were too many things going wrong with the new spacecraft, and astronauts knew it was not good.
Gus Grissom was one of the Original 7 astronauts, he flew onboard Mercury - Liberty Bell 7 and few years later he was assigned as Command Pilot for the first manned Gemini mission Molly Brown (althought NASA refers at it simply as Gemini 3 - the official name is Molly Brown) with Pilot John Young. Ed White became the first American to walk in space during the Gemini 4 mission in June 1965. Roger Chaffe was a rookie astronaut and that was his first assignement.

That day they had to perform a launch simulation but the work they had to do was soon very hard. Many spacecraft's system worked bad and they spent much of the time waiting while problems were fixed. The hatch was secured and the craft interior was pressurized with pure oxygen. Suddenly a spark form a switch light a terrible fire. In a pure-oxygen environment a spark is a very dangerous thing. Soon the oxygen burned. The crew tried to open the hatch, but there were no way to escape from the capsule if no one was outside to open the external hatch. Temperature grew up rapidly in the cabin and crewmember cried out "I've got a fire in the cockpit" while another "Get us out!". When people from the white room arrived at the capsule they were not able to see thru the smog and the hatch was too hot and hard to open. Only when fire estinguished itself firemen opened the hatch and found the three men dead lying into their couches.

Way to go Buzz!!!!
