I would bet money that if one were giving dual instruction to a non-owner (regardless of compensation) and had an accident, the insurance would not pay unless it was commercial policy.
 
The intent of my post was to encourage these guys to go ahead and invest in a plane. The first couple posts in this thread said "insurance" blindly. Those people obviously have never owned a plane or looked closely at insurance.

If you are BOTH owners. If you are BOTH named pilots on the policy. Then there is NO insurance issue. NONE. The 300 hour CFI is surely insurable in a 172 or Warrior. And they will write a student pilot OWNER into the policy for solo flight for a slightly increased premium. As I stated earlier, when I was a student pilot at zero time on my policy, it was $1100 a year. Not hardly cost prohibitive from an insruance standpoint.

flyboydk - Dont get caught up in all the discussion about instructing non owners and all that BS. People on here are always trying to start a flame war and look for things that were never said. However, I highly encourage you to proceed with aircraft ownership, as it will be every bit as fulfilling as it is economical.
