Transtates announced an order for 50 Embraer E175-E2s with 50 further purchase options on Monday. The order for up to 100 E175 E2s is worth more than $2.4 billion dollars and will be confirmed by Trans States Holdings at a later date.

Trans States Holdings is the parent company for regional carriers Trans States Airlines, Compass Airlines, and GoJet Airlines. These regional carriers have existing contracts with Delta Connection, United Express, and US Airways Express (soon to become Envoy nee American Eagle), as well as a few aircraft flying at risk. Trans States? current fleet is composed of 47 CRJ-700s, 28 Embraer E145s, 36 Embraer E175s, and 6 Embraer E170s. Trans States also has an order for 50 rival Mitsubishi MRJs placed in 2010.

Trans States will begin taking delivery of the E175-E2 in June 2020, and the E175-E2s will be configured with 76 seats in a two-class configurations.

?The E175-E2 is proving to be the preferred aircraft for North American carriers as they confirm their future fleet requirements for the next decade,? said Paulo Cesar Silva, President & CEO, Embraer Commercial Aviation. ?When it takes delivery of its first E2 in 2020, Trans States will be flying the newest, most efficient and cost-competitive airplane in its category.?

?We are very excited to announce this agreement on the E2, which expands our relationship with Embraer. Our partnership has spanned well over two decades, and now, due to this agreement, will be expanding decades more into the future,? said Richard A. Leach, President of Trans States Holdings Inc. ?The improved performance and cost savings technologies the E2 will bring to the marketplace will enhance Trans States Holdings? ability to provide industry-leading solutions in fuel burn, maintenance costs, environmental impact and performance.

6 years from now how many of us will still be stuck at the regionals? Look at the upcoming retirements, all the regionals are screwed.

Yes, they will be fine but will not have enough pilots to fly all their new fancy aircraft, that's all.
