Now that JO(MESA) is going to buy ACA it looks like Branson's options are getting tight.

1. Buy Spirit or somebody else.

2. Get his own certificate.(Kind of hard with the ownership restrictions with him being a Brit)

3. What about this PIT LCC? Is Branson behind it? Or is this guy trying to attract Branson?

4. Can ACA be converted into a LCC at IAD? I have my doubts as to how that would work with the aircraft that they have and the commuter gates.

The clock is ticking Branson says summer of 04 that is 8 months from now.

And who is the customer for those 8 737s that Boeing announced the sale of last week but with held the customers name at there request?

I am not so sure JO will complete the ACA deal - and I certainly HOPE NOT. I'd rather see ACA hook up with Branson and fly larger aircraft - that would be great for all people. Who wants to work for the next Frank Lorenzo? All the ACA guys could say BYE BYE to any raises in the future because of the "tight" operation... I love it how UAL is the real puppet master behind this...

C'mon ACA management, show us you have some BALL$!!!!!!

Branson is already cranking things up. I don't have any more info than that.TC

The sale of the Delta 737-800s was to a lessor with a "non competitor" clause. They can't be used in the US----sorry.

Bye Bye--General Lee:rolleyes:

I wouldn't be surprised if those 73's will end up heading towards the southern hemisphere. Qantas has just announced that they're going to try and beat Virgin Blue at their own game and set up their own LCC using 738's

?

Why would JO taking over ACA impede an eventual Virgin buyout?
Didn't JO once work for Branson?

Does Branson have a history of acquiring an existing airline and paying the original owners "windfall" profits? Having worked for Spirit since before the present owner, Dr. Jacob Schorr, took over; I am of the opinion that Dr. Schorr will not sell unless he is able to gain a large return on his investment. He could have sold earlier ( according to rumor) had he been willing to let the company go at firesale prices.

My uninformed impression about Branson leads me to say that I would rather work for him than for Schorr, so I hope there is something to your speculation.

"Virgin Spirit", I could get used to that.

Yeah, the slogan could be "Smells like Virgin Spirit!"

Wait.....thats not right......

Ewwww....

ATA

If ATA doesn't figure out the "bond" problem on their own perhaps Sir Richard will help find a solution. Rumors have placed him in Indy over the past year.

It was my understanding that "Sir Richard" was going to establish a new airline, not affiliated with any existing carrier. Of course, that could be subject to change.;)

Sir Richard evidently changed his mind about starting anew because of the availability of slots at key airports.... So, he is looking to alternatives.... That's my understanding - I hope he does something soon! Teaming up with ACA would be great!

To all,

Doing a little research everything Branson touches does not turn to gold.

If one does a little research on Virgin Express (brussels) they have not had as much success as everyone would think.

Virgin Blue has done very well, however due to certain airlines closing their doors they left a void with literally "NO COMPETITION".

Virgin Atlantic is doing well, but after 9-11 they were hurting like everyone else. One man can not change an airline. Still curious to see if he will take a current airline, with debt, current contracts etc.and add paint.

I do wish him the best, the one thing I beleive he will bring is a loyal employee group, as he treats his employees well.

Just my thought.

AA

Branson's "new" airline will have to avoid the Bible belt---no one will want to fly on a "Virgin."
