I just want to see if anyone else has noticed that the regionals are hiring the "rejects" of the industry because that is all they can recruit any more.. I met another guy on the bus tonight that was with the company I work for for under a year, and he was dogging it and sh!t talking the whole time.. He was bragging about haveing a gaurunteed interview with a major because he is a riddle puke, and bragging about getting drunk while in class in college and a whole list of other crap. Had a very negative attitude and was acted like he was better than the position he was hired into.

I think they have a class on acting like that as a prerequisite for the flight program down there

Guaranteed!!!!............Riddle........Major........Guaranteed!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH>>>>OW!!!!!!!I think I strained something!!!

Guaranteed...because he went to riddle....***giggle**

Gaurenteed because he went to riddle??? All I was guaranteed after riddle was a lot of debt....

hehe, Riddle grads. Doesn't surprise me at all. Their "absolutely the best at everything no matter what anyone says" attitude starts with the recruiting dept. and works its way through the whole school.

Anyone who accepts 20 bucks an hour to fly a 50 pax jet is not so bright. I hope those people grow up to fight for better for the future pilot groups and not just settle for what they get from these regionals. I can't figure out why some people accept jobs with regionals that don't PAY THEM during training. How do you live two months without food???

I am attending riddle for college right now (Extended campus). I can seriously say that the school sux and I ain't learning sh1t!

After riddle... Aren't you still there?

yup and will be forever... i was just saying they never made me any promises like that.

I am not trying to start anything here but I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT STILL GET A DEGREE IN AVIATION!!!!! TRUST ME....IT IS THE BIGGEST WASTE OF MONEY! GET A DEGREE IN SOMETHING YOU CAN FALL BACK ON SO THAT WHEN YOU ARE STUCK AS A REGIONAL FO FOR 5 YEARS YOU CAN AFFORD SOMETHING MORE THAN RAMEN NOODLES. I can't believe these aviation schools are still in business.

I agree that the regionals pay very low. But how does that make me stupid? I am currently quiting a part 135 job paying 30 an hour first year and in a few months i will get 40 an hour. But Im on CALL all the time. And I have to live right at the airport and I don't have many friends in the town Im at....

I hope to get to a major and I think that a regional will get me there in the same time the 135 job will while giving me a schedule and some travel benefits.

I do agree that it is insane that 20 an hour is how much you are payed to fly any jet...no matter what kind. especially an RJ

Enough of the Riddle-bashers!! He's working for the same crappy regional you are so KEEP ON calling the kid stupid!
Gotta admit though the attitude thing does occur but hopefully after eating ramen and drinking keystone for the next 5 years---he will realize where he really sits in the aero. industry.

I agree with the Russian ( I NEVER thought I'd say that in my life!!!) Regionals are getting what they pay for. All of you out there that are willing to be responsible for 30+ people as well as a multi-million dollar aircraft and say' Yeah, uh, I think $20 bucks an hour is GREAT and I don't mind sitting in the right seat until my kids are in college cuz I get travel benefits' deserve to have YOUR side of the industry whored out!

So a degree in something completely unrelated to aviation is going to help me?? Where as at Riddle and other aviation schools at least we learn things like aerodynamics... aviation law.... Dont think you'll get that from any FBO. So maybe Riddle kids pay to much and maybe some of them have attitudes (what do you expect when EVERYWHERE you go in the darn school you hear about how great the school is) but its what you are walking away with. A better knowledge of the aircraft you are flying and aviation in general. Its sad that so many riddle kids come out with a chip on thier shoulder. Lets face it though.... If you were hiring a pilot, and you had two guys walk in with the same hours. One got his ratings at an FBO and a degree in Psychology from a state school or one who went to an aviation school and got his ratings there. Are you going to hire the giu who still thinks Bernoulli's Principle is what makes the plane fly because thats what the FAA says they have to teach you in ground school or the guy who actually knows a thing or two about aerodynamics? A general knowledge of aerodynamics is always a good idea when your FLYING AN AIRPLANE.... Besides does your local FBO have unusual attitude training?? I bet they dont, but Riddle does. That could save your assets one day.

Huh? I have a 4 year degree and make part time what I make flying full time.
I was going to go to Riddle myself because I didn't know any better....I was just thinking "I want to be an airline pilot". My CFI gave me the best advice I have ever been given. "Get a degree in something to fall back on". 10+ years, mortgage, school loan, 5 years at a regional later....I would hug the guy if I ever saw him.

Who offers degrees in porn? I wanna go to that school.

I thought Bernoulli was a type of pasta. I should have gone to Riddle. I understand Riddle gives you a small mirror for a little daily boost of self-importance.

All regionals, majors and Part 135 operators teach unsual attitudes, its part of the required training.

Keep drinking the kool-aid, get huge amounts of debt and maybe you can all be great airline pilots someday.

One thing that always baffels me is Riddle grads always talk about how great the training was, but aren't recent grads the ones doing the training? I'm sure the 350hr CFI's have alot of great experience.

I know a riddle grad who behaves just like that. Thinks he is all that, but he really is a tool...

Walks around with his airline ID badge on, even when not in uniform, just so everyone knows he is an airline pilot. Brags that he flies jets instead of turboprops, and in general annoys everyone.

Naa, try again... Plenty of good CFIs out there, you don't need to spend $100K to learn that stuff...

Sorry, wrong again... I know three riddle pilots, one is a tool, one is ok, and the other actually knows his stuff.

About the same mix as non-riddle pilots.

If you were hiring a pilot, and you had two guys walk in with the same hours. One got his ratings at an FBO and a degree in Psychology from a state school or one who went to an aviation school and got his ratings there.
If they are both qualified, I'll hire the guy I'd rather go have a beer with after the flight is over.

Settle down

Riddle? Bad Attitude? Ya don't say!

Isn't the recruitment brochure there called, "God made Riddle Pilots and Fake Pilots 101" ???

You guys need to settle down. Yeah there are some cocky bastards that come out of Riddle that give the rest of us a bad reputation. The truth is that most schools have cocky types, not just Riddle. This profession among others (e.g. law enforcement, military, etc.) many times attract this type of person. Most ERAU grads (include the vast majority of the grads I know) are "normal", non-condescending, down-to-earth types. I've seen plenty of cockiness from non-ERAU grads
