In my Air Force days I knew guys who would phone patch through Command Post to tell the barber they would be late for their appointment. You know, you just can't afford to piss off your barber!

heck when I was an outstation rampie the pilots would often call in range then place an order for some food and 2 pitchers of beer to be waiting at the hotel. (granted this was over company ops freq)

Ops at the Fracs do this all the time. Several times I called Center to have a flight crew call company or relay a reroute because a new trip popped up close to their position. ATC has never even seemed slightly pissy about it. It's a lot cheaper than the Airphone.

Center called me once to get a hold of a crew because they couldn't establish radio contact with a crew. It turns out they had the volume turned all the way down on their COM radio. DOH!
