Hey Jeff Spicoli,

Why don't you go catch some tasty waves, and a good buzz. Actually go see Mr. Hand, remember your history teacher? He is now teaching English!!
Maybe when you PASS his CLASS you can come back here, hopefully by then we will all be able to understand what the he11 you are saying.

When you're talking about SWA, don't you think you need to narrow that down a little bit?

Hey there big motor,

I'm just curious, did you have a bad experience at AA? I'm not trying to start anything. I have flown with alot of people and have run across quite a few arrogant folks who occupy flight decks. So why just single out AA. My brother works there. I am biased since he is my brother, but while he can be a jerk, I don't see him to be arrogant. Nor would I say that about any of his friends that work there.

Who can really explain the hiring processes at different airlines during the past decades. I haven't read the book in question, but apparently it makes the claim that management purposely hired only the aholes. IS there some sort of test they administered. If so I would like to see that.

I like to keep a sense of humor about these things. I bet if we took a poll from all the pilot groups we can find someone out there (not just the Eagle guys) with the best "ahole pilot" story. I bet there are even some at SWA ( god forbid). I guess I don't really have a point, but I don't see any reason to chuck rocks at one particular pilot group.

WEsb,

BigMotorToter is a furloughed ex TWA pilot, therefore by default he/she holds a grudge against AA.

You will read a lot of opinions on these boards regarding certain pilot groups. The truth is, they are all basically the same at every airline. 95% are great people, and the remaining 5% are screwballs.

The majority of ex TWA pilots I've had the pleasure of meeting with are a class act. There will always be a few that are bitter and let you know it.

Was he hired after 2004 . . . . . and did he have a history of taxiing too fast?

Inquiring minds want to know.

I don't know about that; what I do know is he was pretty gross when flying with women. Trust me; you'd have heard.

Actually, all I know he was hired in 2000 or before.

Yep, sad to say we have a few here... I have no idea how they got in?

Unfortunately they do slip through the cracks, or, more accurately, ooze in from behind the toilet.

I think SWA does a better job than most in keeping out the dregs. To quote a former CP moving towards SWA, who wouldn't even apply to AWA, even when he could have easily gotten the job: "I want to work with happy people..." Imagine that.

I haven't read the book that makes this claim, but I'll guess that the author is a person who is, #1 looking to sell books, and number 2, had a bad personal experience with an American Airlines Captain.

My experience with AA pilots has been as a lowly LCC jumpseater, and I've never run into a real jerk. The biggest jerks I've run into were flying for airlines other than AA.

I must admit that I don't understand why major airline pilots, especially legacy carrier pilots, go so far out of their way to ignore other pilots in the terminals. I make it a habit to make eye contact and give a quick smile and "howdy" to each of my airline pilot brothers as I trek through a terminal. It really amazes me that the majority of pilots will try and avoid eye contact. I catch em trying to sneak a peak at my ID as they try and figure out who I work for, but only around a third of them will smile and say "Hi". I guess that we're all so busy and absorbed in thought that we just zone out. Or maybe I need to start focusing as much as everyone else. It could be me,..............nah, I even manage to befriend my liberal brothers. Right Dave?

Anyway, back to the topic, AA guys may ignore me as I walk through their terminal, but they are more than nice, friendly and polite in the airplanes. Thanks for the rides Gentlemen.

Enigma,

I think it is the pilot themselves. They blow their own off. The running joke at a few bases at AA is "how do you tell a DFW pilot?", they ignore you in terminal.

Thanks for the rides Spirit.

Enigma,

I always smile and say Hi, the ones who most often don't reciprocate are other AA pilots. And I don't care who anyone works for, we all do the same job.

Too true. I've never seen anyone deliberately avoid eye contact like another American/Eagle pilot since I broke up with Kim Kelly in 11th grade.
