I've watched these post for a while regarding NetJets and " Uncle Warren. Why is it that he is " beating people up for a nickel"? He owns the Company .. Your were hired , as an employee .. You didn't give a dime towards its success . However most of you seem content to offer up whatever it takes to see to its demise ... Are you not paid a better than average salary? Better than more than the average benefits ? For which you contribute what each month ? Nothing as I hear it ... If you're all so unhappy in your over 6 figure incomes , and some of you have more than enough money to retire , why don't. You leave your miserable job to someone who will appreciate its value and everything it offers ? You don't deserve it !

I'll offer up a couple of points for you to consider -

1 - NetJets was a success before Warren bought it in 1998. He bought it because of its excellent reputation for customer service and its #1 market position as the industry innovator.

2 - Many of the employees have been here well before Warren bought the company and are the primary driver of that excellent service reputation that was carefully built and cultivated over 20+ years.

3 - The employees may not have "given a dime towards its success" but I'll tell you that they've given something far more valuable - a majority of their working careers. Each person on this earth will have approximately 40 years of productive working time in which they want to earn enough to provide for their families and their impending retirement. Many of the people at NJ have been here for 10-20 years, which means they've dedicated 25-50% of their productive working lives towards the success of this company. Which is more valuable in your opinion?

Yes, many non-union people can easily move on to other companies and pick up where they left off at NetJets, but flight crews and other union personnel face the daunting prospect of starting their career over, at the bottom of the seniority ladder, if they are hired. Is that appropriate for someone who gave 25-50% of their productive lives to the company's success?

4 - If you pay attention, you'd notice that the primary concern for most of the pilots is not their pay and benefits but rather that the company is demanding concessions while it reports record profits AND the management team is doing serious damage to the company's record of excellent customer service.

The employees know that this business was built on being the best, not the cheapest. They also know and are concerned that management's current path jeopardizes all of their hard work and contributions they've made to build this company into the market leader.

5 - Is it appropriate for a new CEO to come along and hollow out a great product, showing good financial results for a short period by cutting corners, collect a big salary and annual bonuses for good financial performance, and then punch out for greener pastures when the poor product catches up to the financial results? Not to mention leaving a trail of destruction behind for all of the long term employees to clean up in his wake?

Agreed. And those of us sitting in the background who have been there longer than 10 years see it too. You don't have to be a pilot in this company to see it slowly being whittled away.

It looks like Bombardier now owns (of record) about a dozen former NJA G-200s. The "deal" for the 650s, 350s and Globals must not only have been good on the sales price it looks like they are taking all/most of the old super-mid and larger jets?

Same sort of deal went down with the Uboats and Phenoms. This is the new NJA drug deal. We'll buy a heap-o-yer new metal if you take a heap-o-our old junk!
