Boeing files claim against Hawaiian

By Debbie Sokei
Advertiser Staff Writer

Boeing Capital Corp. is seeking $40.4 million in damages from Hawaiian Airlines for the nondelivery of three airplanes.

Boeing is owed $16.7 million for the nondelivery of a 767 plane and $23.7 million for the return of two 717s, said Russ Young, spokesman for Boeing.

"These are damages that we believe reflect our damages as a result of not delivering those aircrafts," said Anil Patel, director of International Region for Boeing.

The claim also reflects the amount Boeing is spending to modify and reconfigure the two 717s for the new leaseholder, AirTrans Airways. The 767, which was delivered to Hawaiian in April, was sold to a foreign carrier for an undisclosed amount, Patel said.

Hawaiian is operating 11 717s and three 767s from Boeing under an extended lease. Since Hawaiian filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in March, Hawaiian and Boeing have extended the leases several times.

Renegotiating aircraft leases and labor concessions are part of Hawaiian's business plan as the carrier tries to emerge from bankruptcy by September.

Hawaiian is Boeing's fifth-largest customer with an estimated lease value at $536 million, according to Boeing's filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Last year, Ansett Worldwide Aviation Service Inc. restructured leases for seven 767s with Hawaiian and filed a claim for more than $100 million.

Can You Say Airbus Industries

Interesting,

And they wonder why Airbus is doing so well. If I heard correctly, Jetblue doesn't have to make any payment to airbus, for 10 years.

Boeing may have the better aircraft but to quote an old sage:

"Metal doesn't sell metal, its people who sell the metal"

scramjet:

Stick with reporting the weather.

For the umpteenth time, JetBlue pays for its airplanes...got it!?!

C'mon, SpeedBird.

Everybody knows JetBlue doesn't have to pay for their airplanes yet. And the fuel is free too, courtesy of the French officials who worked a deal with Iraq (pre-war, of course). Well, free until somebody spoils the deal, that is.

Then too the pilots are all working for deferred stock, to be placed into a blind trust for the next twenty two years. After that...it's all ours.

Don't forget the food....don't pay for that either. Snacks are courtesy of the US Gov'mint's "get rid of the excess cheese" plan. Blue chips? HAH! They're simply overprocessed Subway rejects...

I guess the only thing JetBlue has to pay for is that crazy irridescent Chemgoo stuff we keep dumping on unsuspecting craniums country wide...

Listen here Speedbird

Slowbird or excuse me speedbird, number one I don't report the weather I read it. Number two why should anyone believe someone who lies in there profile like you. (370,000 hours what a dunce) We aren't female flight attendants you don't have to lie to us. The Bible says "He who can be trusted with little things can be trusted with big things" And you can't even be honest with your profile.

If you get a chance to fly with eagle flip, I hope you do, because he will probably teach you a few things. Eagleflip will teach you honesty number one and how to be funny number two.

In the meantime Speedbird just go stand in the cheese, butter, and blue chip line, He He... Wait a second your already there.

He He He.

Scramjet:

Well I am sorry to have offended your sensibilities with my post, but you have to understand that it gets pretty darn old when people such as yourself post blantantly false information about a company repeatedly despite numerous attempts by myself and countless others to correct the record with factual references, such as jetBlue's own SEC filings...have you ever heard of those?

I find it amazing that people who are supposed to be responsible for operating commercial passenger aircraft would be so gullible to believe in the first place that any airline would be given airplanes to fly for free for any period of time, let alone four friggin years!

As for your accusation that I am a liar because my profile says that I have 370K hours "total time" well that is just a play on the heading where I've taken the liberty to use the total hours I've spent living and breathing on this little orb we call planet Earth. I guess for some people even that isn't obvious..oh well.

My apologies to everyone else on this board for not staying on the thread topic. I just had to make one last response and will not do so again unless someone else decides to post some ridiculous statement that jetBlue gets its airplanes for free.

ScRaMJet, I hate to tell you this, but SpeedBird is already far ahead of the game in terms of truth and humor.

The bottom line--do a little homework and you'll see that our company is paying for everything, on time, in full.

Have a nice day, and we now return this thread to it's original owner...

Im sorry, I just have to warn everyone that scramjet knows every check airman at every company, so dont get on his bad side. He is insane with power and not afraid to put you on the street. Now tell him he's cool and funny so we can talk about Boeing in peace.
