PROFLYER I totally agree with your assesment of the situation, but take a look at the experience of the post as well. When we were at that stage I bet we said some uninformed things as well....lol. But in her defense, that is how we ALL learn and to see different ideas presented it gives us a chance to inform the inexperienced.

I would like to get the real reason why it happened though.......then we can talk about GEARUPS.....lmao

PROFLYR,

I agree, I have heard some of the dumbest $hit ever in the pilot lounge at good ole ERAU...from Instructors and Students alike...
pretty funny:D

I searched the news search engine on google and couldn't find it and I looked at the tv and newspaper links for GSO and never found any story there either.

Hey Whirlwind,
It seems to me that you are having trouble moving on. i dont think that I have any memorabilia from past flames especially from something five years back. I hope her dad isnt a pilot. Lord knows that if I were surfing this sight and saw my daughter's picture (this is hypothetical my daughter is 18 months old), along with alot of people asking about her availibilty (I can only guess at the subject matter in the PM's), I would deffinatly be a little alarmed.
Any way, I live by GSO and never heard a thing except on this forum.

So far, having read all the way through this thread, I now know too much about Whirlwind's love life, why or why not to land gear up, a novella about avatars, some opinions on ERAU students opinions, basically everything but what happened to the RJ.

Who me? Nope, no trouble...

I still have the pictures from my high school g/f. She and I dated for about 2 years, and while those were happy times, I'm sure she and I have little in common now... :)

I hope her dad isnt a pilot.
If memory serves, her dad was an insurance adjustor, but I could be mistaken... Been a long time.

LOL! Good point, didn't think about that! :)

Ha! How did you know? ;)

Flight Control Problem

According to our CP today, the suspected cause of the return to GSO was a flight control problem. Apparently, one or both channels of the stab trim caused a the aircraft not to handle as expected. The crew decided to get the aircraft on the ground as quick as possible.

more to come...

On the 121 aircraft I have flown (ERJ-145, DC-9 and B-717) for a serious flight control or unexpected handling problems that I could not immediately 100% diagnose, and I felt that the unknown was enough to jeopardize the aircraft, then if and while the aircraft was maintainable, I would have absolutely no problem turning around and landing on the runway behind me, even with a tailwind. Just remember that if you're going to do that, remember the gear. Your aircraft may or not be landing configured, and you may or MAY NOT want to put out flaps (depending on the flight control abnormality), but by all means put the gear down. I would put the gear down in almost every circumstance except water. Thats when calm, cool, and collected becomes a mandatory part of the checklist.

My opinion and observation.

HMMMM, let's see, 10,000 unemployed pilots who have nothing to do but surf the web, and post on Flightinfo.com. It's only a matter of time before somebody gets to call bulls**t, and have the supreme pleasure of outing a phony. Is this not what makes our often dreary profession all the more enjoyable?? It doesn't matter how you choose to cheat. Pad the ol' logbook, make up some fantasy "girlfriend", lie about what you did on that overnite in El Paso with the hot F/A. Someday somewhere it will come back to haunt you. But Whirly if it's any consolation at least only a few people know you for real on this board, and you don't have to face the crew room ridicule that would accompany this if you were flying the line................

I'm off to find a pic of my new "Girlfriend" Britney Spears....I hear she digs broke pilots

HAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA.... Poop.... HAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHA

Blame FlyChicaga, he posted two hot girls as his avatar, so I was trying to have some fun with it. :D

Those who know me know that I'll kid around, but wouldn't really post a pic of a g/f.
