did anyone else see his show today talking about the JBU aircraft that held all those passengers hostage for 11 hours? He said, "The flight crews are some of the most skilled folks in the world. Its airlines management is what all screwed up. They need to give the passengers and crews a break."

You watch Bill O'Reilly?

Well, if Bill O'Reilly said, then it must be true!

It was a good segment. Focused on the fact that it's not individual airline employees, but management's fault. Also mentioned that service is horrible and getting worse, most likely a result of paycuts and understaffing by the higher-ups.

you people crack me up, all you ever talk about is how we are getting screwed, and how we need to let people know how bad we have it. As soon as somebody speaks up and tells the truth you bash him. I would much rather have my union dues go to him then the crap I am paying for now. The whole purpose of unionized labor is so we have a leverage on managment during contract talks and lets look where that is getting us. Comair what is the purpose of their union, Mesaba what a great union, Trans States wow ALPA put a stop to GoJets, why are we paying so much money for something that isn't working. In theory unions are a great concept, but in reality they don't work anymore, lets keep our dues in house and not pay for ALPA or Teamsters to live more comfortable than we do. I am paying union dues and I am not off of probation yet, how is this benefiting me?

O'Reilly is my man!

XPOO, congrads on a new "feminine" avatar!

ALPA carriers do not require probationary pilots to pay union dues.

Who do you work for?

Well, you are benefiting for FREE at this point. You may not have system board protection at this time, but you are working under rules that others fought hard to get. You have access to the best legal help in the world if you have FAA problems. Oh and that will be free even after you start paying dues. You sound like someone who doesn't want to pay a few bucks in a year or so when you get off probation. For the sake of the industry and the hard working pilots at the airlines you maligned above......I hope you don't make it off probation.....ALPA may have a few pimples on it's butt, but it is the only thing going for you out there..... If you really want to change things......vote!!!! A change in the white house is the only way pilots are going to get a break......

I like Bill O'Reilly quite a bit. He's not a party shill and seems willing to take positions outside of the mainstream when called for. Granted, he's about as subtle as a heart attack, and I don't really enjoy watching people scream at each other, so his show isn't on my list. But the man himself has interesting things to say if you can get past how he's saying them.

That said, if you're a blind Bush supporter, consider: Who exactly do you think think is responsible for the current outrageous abrogation of contracts and other absurdly anti-union judicial opinions? Certainly Clinton was part of the problem, but Bush has been even worse.

It seems to have escaped what passes for the mainstream of both parties that organized labor is not only appropriate for a capitalist society, but an essential product of the freedom we treasure.

Why does everyone look to the Government to solve all of their problems?

We aren't a European wellfare state---at least not yet.

Im sure Bill Oreilly, like George Bush, doesn't really defend anyone who actually works for a living. Nazi news

On the contrary, lowering taxes and reducing Govt. regulation IS helping working people. The looters who call for "social justice and equality" would make this countries citizens a slave to giant Government.....all in the name of "equality."

If you could read i said I am already paying dues and I am not off of probation. Why can't we hire our own lawyers from an in house union from our dues. I am pissed we are paying for a middle man, some employees of ALPA national went on strike because of pay and if I remember correctly one of the reasons was they wanted federal income tax reinbursment if they made under 59,000 a year. None of us make that much and we sure as hell aren't getting any taxes back and we aren't allowed to strike. Based on your statements I bet you are a die hard liberal, you believe in peace, love and harmony. You think big business is running the white house and ruining the economy it is the presidents fault gas is so high and the war in iraq is a mistake. I didn't take a jab at the workers at those companies, I was saying how they got screwed, and how the dues they were paying were to keep them from getting the shaft and it still happened. I am glad we have people volunteer their time for contracts but this approach isn't working we need to think of alternatives of employee representation.

I don't think that you read his post. ALPA carriers do not require probationary pilots to pay dues, so the question is, who do you work for?

Yeah, reducing taxes paid by large corporations and the wealthy just means that us middle class worker types are left with the tab. Someone is going to have to pay off our national debt...why should the top 10% pay less of their fair share?

If you could read i said I am already paying dues and I am not off of probation.

And if YOU could read you would notice that it was mentioned that ALPA carriers DO NOT REQUIRE probationary employees to pay dues. So you need to be talking to your local LEC if you are indeed paying dues.

I'm not shocked O'Reilly supported the pilots. His "shtick" is that he's a blue collar warrior fighting for the middle class workers". He wouldn't tout any kind of management. Of course we know that's just an act, what with his millions of dollars. But hey, it gets ratings.

Under the lower tax rates the top 10% is paying a greater proportion of the tax bill than before; How does this leave you with the tab? The top 10% is paying way more than their fair share; It's the bottom 10% that needs to get off their collective fat arses. Get educated. I know it's easier and more satisfying to blame you're problems on someone else, but going through life without a basic understanding of economics is like trying to play a game without knowing the rules. It's frustrating, but in the end it's your own fault.

New York Times said:
An analysis of Internal Revenue Service data by The New York Times found that the benefit of the lower taxes on investments was more concentrated on the very wealthiest Americans than the benefits of President Bush's two previous tax cuts.

I do agree with you about the lower 10% as well....but its going to be hard to get anything from someone who has nothing to begin with.

Anyone reading or posting in the Regionals forum shouldn't listen to a word Bill O'Reilly says, you can't afford his opinions.

That's a bunch of babbling BS. The top 10% pay 75% of the acutal tax dollars.

If you wake up every day, look in the mirror and tell yourself that you are a victim....then a victim is all you will ever be. Our inner-cities and welfare roles are filled with "victims."

Take responsibility for your own life and fortune. If you don't like your present situation CHANGE IT!

Not really feeling like getting into a political debate with you. But you seem to have bought into the blue cool-aide they are giving you. The top 10% pay about 76% of all of the tax, what you and I pay really does nothing for the government at all.

Here we go.

Cav, that maybe true. But in terms of who can afford what, the top 10% are the least likely to starve due to the strain of taxes. Therefore, it's been decided to put a heavier burden on those who can support it.

The tax structure is fine. It's spending on unnecessary things, like [insert your opinion here], that should be stopped. But I thought this thread was about how Bill-o is an idiot anyway.

If you're having trouble selecting an unnecessary thing, I've come up with some helpful and bipartisan suggestions:
1. War in Iraq
2. Old People
3. Poor People
4. Abortions for prostitutes
5. Wiretapping Americans
6. Israel
7. Transportation Security Administration
