Lumley!!

Back in 2002 or so I know he lived on the west coast of the state and would fly his 152 to the checkride site. He's an old retired Delta pilot. A bit kooky if I remember....

You remember correctly. Really nice guy though. Used him for my MEI when I did it at ATP. Don't know how to get in touch with him though.

We're all "...a bit kooky...". You got a problem with THAT ??

Any relation to John Lumley?

John Lumley is a barrel of monkeys to fly with. Anybody wanting to build some time for the airlines PM me.

I did two rides with him... Multi add on and a Commercial Single. Multi was fine. The CSEL was pretty wild. He's a aerobatic glider pilot (didn't know they even exsisted) and he showed me some really crazy things in a C172. Nice guy, but as somebody said, a little off the wall. No idea how to get in touch with him. The rides I did with him were through ATP so you could try getting the number for the Stuart, FL location and getting the number through them.

No, but I would have if I could have. I just didn't think of that...wait, I'm not a DE...I'm not a CFI even. But, I could wear one to mow the yard and run the Dyson.

I flew with Bill's oldest son. I just cant remember his name. The son (oldest son) had a 150 and lived in Columbus Ga at the time...about 1990. My friend Mike had an L-5 and a Pazmany PL-1. The PL-1 needed a fuel tank repair. We drove to Bill's house (from Columbus) on the private airstrip in Fla. There I met Bill Lumley. I had no idea I was going to "the" Bill Lumley's house. I was ecstatic when I got there. Enjoyed looking at all airplanes and helicopters he had packed in the hangar. I have some video of me in the right seat of the Beech 18 flying to his other private strip out in the everglades. I also flew in the 150 (his son was also visiting) while Bill pulled up next to use in the Beech 18 on another day. You can hear the engines of the 18 in the video, while flying in 150. That was a great few days. There was also a very nice lady that lived on the strip. She had a Mooney. That was a long time ago and I have forgotten many names. The video cam corder was one of the large early recorders and I do not have any of the videos converted to DVD....and I no longer have a VHS player/recorder.
