Everything I've ever heard or read has indicated that the total operating costs for the BBJ and big Gulfstreams are fairly comparable. The big problem with the BBJ and larger aircraft is ramp presence - they're huge. At many airports you've got ramp and parking issues to deal with as well as taxiway weight limits. You've got to be mindful of where you're going. We see the Sultan's A340 sitting on the ramp at Grand Junction all of the time because it can't go into Aspen.

Anything used now will be easily surpassed in size once a middle east head of state gets their hands on a private A380.
 
With the money those towel heads are raking in with $50 dollar a barrel oil, they'll probably buy a fleet of A380's. Also wouldn't a A380 have a lot more than 1700 sp ft in it. Seem a bit on the small side.
