SWA still has a good number of slots at LGA. Even with JB winning some slots from this process I think SWA still has a few more than JB.

I dont think DCA is as big of a deal for SWA considering the size of their operation at BWI. Yes it would have been nice if they won some DCA slots, but its not the end of the world by far.

I am pretty sure that IF additional slots are divested, they will STILL be subject to the highest bidder, and JetBlue will compete aggressively for those slots also. So either way, you will pay top dollar or you won't get any additional slots.

It seems strange that I would have to point that out to you...

Since you seem to be in the know could you answer a question? IF SWA acquired JB, what would be the expectations of the JB pilots ?

You mean if a certain legacy bought them because SWA underbids, again? That Airtran purchase sure hit you guys financially it seems. Also, JB's friend Sen. Schumer of NY would make sure any purchase kept most of the airline together, which takes away your management threats (and retired management at that!). Nobody will fall for that again.

Whatever there current year of pay is on the SW pay scale. Whatever seat a JB pilot ended up holding after a fair and equitable merger of seniority lists. Sounds like a pretty good deal to me. No one wins or loses big. However the Airtran guys already set a precident on what the JB pilots will get.

Forcing them set a precedent? They would have done better in arbitration, and the SWA pilots and management knew it. Jetblue pilots just won't fall for that with anyone. Arbitration is the answer, along with fences. Separate pay for the 717 guys at AT (old AT pay) was not the answer, and everyone knows it too.

Godspeed!

Oh brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Maybe the whole world should just kiss your collective asses.
For the love of God man, just let it go. You work for a world class company. Can't you just leave it at that?

They can't! They won't be satisfied until they have every passenger flying within TEXAS. That is their top goal, followed by owning every other LCC out there without widebodies. Spirit and then Great Lakes are next, and you had BETTER take their lame offer, or retired management may come in and say something NASTY to scare you.

Seriously??? You guys are a bunch of class-less jackA$$$$$$. Those at the top fall hard, you should all remember that humility is respected, arrogance, not so much.

general Cheese, Did momma let you out of the basement to eat some turkey? Or did you sit down there playing SuperMario with hardened, Cheetle-stained socks scattered about? OR, due to stagnation at Delta, did you spend Thanksgiving in Cairo, again?

In the airline world, I am Thankful for the interviewing and new hire classes at SWA. Hopefully you are Thankful for the interviewing and new hire classes at Delta.......right?

You should say the same to the Airtran guys you lambasted. IDIOT.

Delta doesn't go to Cairo anymore. Luckily, I was at home with the family. And, I am very thankful about my situation, thanks.

General
Who does the codeshare for Delta to Cairo now?

Volaris. Do you want to go to Cairo with the uprising stuff going on there now? That is why many airlines have stopped service there. See, you have your head so far up your rear that you don't even know current World events. I am not surprised. To you, the World revolves around Lubbock.

Oh, is part of DAL's 5% reduction in int'l flying? Man shrinking must SUCK!!! How many did yall hire in 2011?

There was a reduction in some ME flying due to ME tensions. So, instead they just opened up Fukuoka in Japan (from HNL) and they are currently installing crew rest facilities in all of the 767ERs (a lower deck mod). No more sleeping in a first class seat with a curtain around it. Sounds nice, eh? Lie flat bunks for a nap? You guys can nap for 10 minutes maybe somewhere between your 4th and 5th leg of your trip each day. FANTASTIC! So, you take a quick nap, and the other guy can run to Pizza Hut Express and grab you guys an individual Supreme pizza. GO FOR IT!

Actually, the 744, A330, and 767ER fleets are getting new crew rest mods, new lie flat seats for passengers, and new AVOD (personal TVs) mods too. And you guys get 717s for awhile. Oh, and Mexico City from SAT and SNA and Cabo via Airtran. AWESOME.

And you're talking about shrinking? Your word will be STAGNATION. How many are you RETIRING over the next 10 years? Delta will retire about 5000 over the next 10 years, and you will still be flying West Texas. That must give you the farts.

I don't care who you are, that was funny!

I am surprised you guys haven't picked it up for us.

Too bad Cairo was a bad choice. Do you want to fly there these days? Didn't think so.

That's a little out of our league. We could probably swing a few more West Coast to Hawaii legs for you though.

You haven't started LAX yet, and we do HNL, LIH, KOA, and OGG from there. We do SFO and SEA to HNL still. Take your pick, but with our little "friendship", I don't think you'll do LAX to Hawaii. Our flight from SEA to HNL has a lot of connections from DTW, CVG, MSP, and JFK, so I think that is still safe. SFO has connections from MSP, JFK, and ATL. I don't think we ever did the other Bay Area cities to Hawaii, but we did do PDX and SAN, which you have started. Enjoy it.

I think that codeshare number is north of 10. What say you Genital, what's the real number.

We can add in all the domestic codeshare later...

From Gary's Newsline for Monday, November 28th:
..."Last week was also the deadline to bid on Washington Reagan slots and LaGuardia slots, and Southwest did participate in that. We put in what I thought was a very healthy bid. We put in the maximum amount we thought was sensible. And, believe it or not, we did not win the bid by well over $10 million by the winning bidders. So, I’ll just say this, it’s one of those situations where, if you want to use the word “lost,” we may have lost this battle, but we’re certainly going to win the war. And, there’s just a point, when in any auction process when it makes no sense to bid any more money. We’re all about low costs; we’re all about great Service. We’ll have a terrific presence in New York’s LaGuardia airport already after our AirTran acquisition. And, of course, AirTran also brings us slots at Washington Reagan. So there was absolutely no need for us to overspend on this. The winning bidders essentially locked in losses into perpetuity with the amount of money that they paid, but we simply weren’t willing to do that. I’m very happy with the outcome. We’ll continue to work hard to win more Customers in those markets, and keep our costs low."

So once again, depending how you think, slow and steady rules the day at SWA. Very boring but very sensable.

Riiiiiiiiight. Great comeback. THEY overpaid...... Or, you drastically underbid for something very valuable, that now may cost that much in every slot auction. It won't get any cheaper, Gary. You may want to try other airports nearby if you can't afford those slots, like Newburgh/Stewart or Hagerstown, MD? That AT purchase really zapped you guys. Ouch.

Godspeed!

Oh, he says it, so it must be true. I am pretty sure jetblue knows exactly how to make money in NYC. Dca has been very strong for us as well.

Everyone just needs to admit that SWA never makes mistakes or misses opportunities. They are the new Skygods, right?
