No DAL took that code share from us. GL/ OY6. Say code share is good for DAL because it is flying that the DAL pilots do not want to do anyway.

I think there may be some sort of codeshare with Westjet, but no flights from any real base except LAX, and that is only to Calgary. The flights from LGA will probably go to Toronto, and I think we used to fly there via Comair, before they totally fell apart. Onward connections in Toronto on Westjet could not be longhaul INTL, since they don't do that. They may have some connects to smaller Canadian cities that Delta isn't interested in flying to from New York LGA.

How is your codeshare with Volaris going? I guess you guys don't want to go to Guadalajara from MDW or OAK? It's not a big enough city for you I guess.

And as OYS stated, what a complete slamarama on Southwest for your lowball offer for the most covetted slots in America, at LGA and DCA. Your guy incharge of that bid might not get a bonus this year.......

DAL pilots don't want to fly to Toronto? Why not is it the Lubbock of Canada?

I think either DL or our DCI operators fly to YYZ from ATL, CVG, DTW, and MSP. We used to fly MD88s there, but Route Planning probably found a better place to put them to make more money, something you guys didn't really do last quarter because your hedges were off, a lot. I don't think the Southwest guys are qualified to go there even if they wanted to. You had better ask the ex-Airtran guys to show you the way.

I guess you assume that their isn't already a plan in place for additional slots cheaper now that our competition just overpaid? AA and Republic will be divesting slots in the next 90's unless something miraculous happens for both carriers. Most likely at a better price than what JetBlue just paid. Gary Kelly has not made many blunders in his time at the helm. I'd bet their is a bigger plan in play here.

Yeah, and Van Gogh paintings keep getting cheaper..... Once someone pays something for something limited, the price usually goes up. The Gov't don't own the slots, the airlines do. If they want to sell them in the future, they now know what the base price should be for slots during rush hour pushes.

Could there be a bigger plan out there? Sure. If USAir buys into AA, then they might have to divest some slots, although the AA slots out of DCA mainly go to ORD, DFW, and MIA, none of which USAir Mainline flies to from DCA. No real overlap there. Can you think of some more mergers that seem to be realistic in the near future that could involve overlap at LGA or DCA?

Thanks Tanker Clown.

Bye Bye--General Lee

No, Slaquer doesn't have the sharp wit Tankerclown has. He might be his dull, idiot brother. And those rumors the Corndogs are possibly hearing about buying JB, probably mirror rumors of us possibly buying them too. Who knows? But what is known is that SWA didn't get any of those slots.

Godspeed!

Delta is the only real winner in this deal. They are the majority player in LGA and got paid a ton of money in the auction. This concludes this thread.

I'd say US Airways is another winner here as well. With the new slots added to their already domination in DCA means that DCA will no longer be a "focus city" but a new Hub.

I think Delta paid $100 million to get slots and terminal 2 (?), and then got $60 million to give up 16 slots. Not bad to now have over 50% of LGA slots.

I am going to go head and say JB and WJ are winners here also. Getting the most coveted slots in the U.S.

I am pretty sure that IF additional slots are divested, they will STILL be subject to the highest bidder, and JetBlue will compete aggressively for those slots also. So either way, you will pay top dollar or you won't get any additional slots.

It seems strange that I would have to point that out to you...
