Sounds like they saved many rears and not just the ones on the plane as well as mucho dinero. Honewell and UAL should be kissing the ground these guys walk on yet they simply chalk this up to nav error and move on their merry way.

Sounds like a 'miracle on the bay' to me. These guys are heros. Anyone know the story with the Captain?

So what was the approach they were flying? Shouldn't it have been an ILS that would have nothing to do with a data base?

Why would they not hard tune the ILS on the NAV/Rad page for raw data to confirm correct alignment. I am not familiar with the 400 but that is standard Procedure on the MD-11 at least it was 2.5 yrs ago when I left it.

"Miracle on the Bay" my @ss.

What was the weather at the time?

How did they descend so low if they weren't on an ILS? Listening to that guy talk you would think they were leaving wake in the water.

If the database was off that much, why the second attempt without raw data?

Why a first attempt without a raw data back up?

If it was a database error, what happened to all the other flights arriving with the same database?

PTSD...Come on now... Whole thing smells fishy from the bay.

high ILS intercept and false GS readings???

He definitely seems to want lifetime disability pay or something like that. As a pilot, i cant imagine that could affect you so much. as pilots, this stuff is in our blood so to speak. you posess the aptitude for stuff like this, otherwise you wouldnt be right seat in a 747 at a major!

matter of fact, there have been some serious near misses, you know which ones like, <100'; and guys dont go out on PTSD.
