Good brand?

The required battery minder depends upon which battery you have installed. I have an EarthX battery and hence I have the battery minder recommended by them.

If you are using the SBS-J16 (Odyssey) battery then a NOCO 5 will work fine. Keep in mind if you plug in to the 12V receptacle on lower right of the panel that the wiring path has a 5A fuse inline so you cannot exceed that for charging. The alternate option is adding a pigtail for charging directly to the battery and connect a battery tender to the pigtail bypassing the 5A fuse which is what I have done in the past and now that I use the EarthX I also use a pigtail for the charge (optimate?) I use for that battery type.

I also suggest carrying a jump battery, I use a NOCO GB40 I think it is and have the pigtail for that installed too. Not the most fun time installing pigtails on the tight area of the starter battery tray but once done it's nice to have in place.
