Here's the first bit of news RE classes that we've received in quite some time. For what it's worth....
New Hires: The Membership Committee recently hosted a joint east-west dinner at Marjerle's in downtown Phoenix to welcome 11 new-hire pilots and two returning America West pilots who have been on military leave.
The two America West pilots, Shane Butler (P3077) and James Jamir (P3022), were both on active duty with the Air Force. Shane was hired in October 2004 and was flying the KC-10 out of McGuire AFB. James, a May 2004 new-hire, was flying the C-17 out of McChord AFB. Both are going to LAS to fly the Airbus.
The 11 new-hires are all going to the east operation to fly the EMB-190 and will be based out of PHL.
Future Classes: As of today, there has not been a change in the Company's plan to hire 300 pilots this year and classes are currently scheduled as far out as June. The January 7 class had eight pilots and all went out east. Adding that to the February 4 class brings us to a total of 19 new-hires, all of whom are east pilots.
We can expect to see more west new-hires in the upcoming classes with the next one starting on February 25, with 12 pilots, eight of whom are going to the west. After that, the plan is to have one class in March, two in April, and one in both May and June. Including the February 25 class, the total number of west new-hires is 39 with the majority going to the Airbus in PHX.
