Thanks for the chuckle guys. What is a "real" plane anyways?

Finally someone else is telling the truth.
Stay far far away, NJA is NOT the place to be. Cleaning lav's and throwing bags. We don't even fly "real" planes.
Didn't you hear, all the airlines are hiring again!

Yep, plus, it looks like you won't have to retire at 60 at the airlines anymore, so you can work all the way 'til Medicare kicks in, just like here. What a deal! :D

A 10 year pilot could essentially have 3 weeks off every month for 8 months strait if bid one week vacation per month for the last four months of the vacation year and the first four months of the next vacation year, 21 days off each month starting March through October.

A first year pilot like hopalong could do this but only for four months strait, hopalong will have 2 full weeks to use from 01JUL '07 through 30JUN '08, and another 2 weeks from 01JUL '08 to 30JUN '09, so he or she could use this years vacation for one week in May and one week in June 2008, and next years vacation bid one week in July and one week in Aug. 2008 and have 21 days off each month from May through Aug. of 2008.

That's not a bad idea, that's like having the whole summer off, one 7 day tour per month all summer long, not bad.

Daddy like....

I know I just worked 15 hours on my app...but after reading the last few comments, I think I'm gonna throw it away. I don't want to work at NJ any more.

Riiiiight.....Now, where's that FedEx guy? He's running late!

Do you have to take your vacation a week at a time? or can you take a couple of the days at a time?

Pretty sure you have to take it a week at a time. The total number of days off in a row you get depends on if you are on the reserve or 7/7 schedule.

One week at a time. By taking vacation one week at a time an individual actually gets 21 continuous days off on the 7/7 schedule. That's a nice block of time off.
Year 1-4 get 2 weeks vacation per year
5-9 get 3 weeks
10 and up get 4 weeks

Sometime this year there should be discussions between the company and union about converting the current Sick Day system into a Personal Time Off system (or some combination thereof) to allow pilots to take personal time instead of using sick days to cover necessary personal events.

PS: I know all of you union hating readers hate the idea of the employees actually discussing and trying to improve quality of life issues for employees, so please ignore this post.

One that has external lav servicing, an apu, a cabin you can stand up in, and TCAS.
