Can you be awarded vacation weeks of the 15-21 and 12-18 (blue)?

If you bid the 15-21 and 29-4th do you only get 5 weeks off, losing a week, of will they not award back to back weeks off?

Thanks, now I'm even more confused. Gonna go hire a lawyer to interpolate that. I did understand the no less than 35 days off for two consecutive weeks that's about it.

I can figure it out, The main reason that I posted this was for anyone thinking about coming to work here would have an idea of how vacations work :beer:

So, if anyone thinking about NJA, for 2 consecutive weeks vacation you'll have 35 to 42 days off, not a bad deal.

Vacation year begins 01JUL and end 30JUN, you're building vacation time, 1.166 days per month, but you won't be able to bid it for a couple more months when are vac bid period opens, if you started 01JUL you will have 2 weeks vacation that you can bid for the period beginning 01JUL07 thru 30JUN08.

If you would've started today than you would still be building vac time, but would only have about 6 days that you could use for the vac year starting 01JUL.

We get 2 weeks vac from year 1 to year 5
3 weeks from 5 to 10
4 weeks from 10 on, never get 5 weeks vacation.

You have your thinking wires all crossed up, the reason we get 3 weeks off per 1 week vacation is that we work 7 days on followed by 7 days off, this means if you use one weeks vacation you have 21 days off.

Won't happen. Vacation doesn't carry over to the next year -- you use it every year. Two weeks for years 1-4, Three weeks for years 5-9, and Four weeks in year 10 and after. So the max you could have available for a year is 4, not 5.

By "year" I mean a NJA "vacation year," which goes July 1 to June 30.

Basically, yes. (Although January to June would be 6 months, and you'd only have 4 weeks vacation, so say January to April.) Keep in mind that a 7/7 schedule works you 15.2 days per month on average, so your proposal wouldn't exactly have you at one week a month. A week of vacation will knock out one of your 7-day tours; look at it that way.

A 10 year pilot could essentially have 3 weeks off every month for 8 months strait if bid one week vacation per month for the last four months of the vacation year and the first four months of the next vacation year, 21 days off each month starting March through October.

A first year pilot like hopalong could do this but only for four months strait, hopalong will have 2 full weeks to use from 01JUL '07 through 30JUN '08, and another 2 weeks from 01JUL '08 to 30JUN '09, so he or she could use this years vacation for one week in May and one week in June 2008, and next years vacation bid one week in July and one week in Aug. 2008 and have 21 days off each month from May through Aug. of 2008.

That's not a bad idea, that's like having the whole summer off, one 7 day tour per month all summer long, not bad.

This vacation is just a little extra time to spend with the family. How many other jobs require you to be gone up to 7 days a week?
