For sure, the only other real issue I have had is a fine oil mist on my windshield, like micro fine. Barely noticeable but still concerning. Turned out to be coming from the zerk fitting under the prop nose cone , took forever to find the source.

Yup, you're supposed to grease the prop annually or every 100 hours I think it is. I did my first condition inspection this past summer, greased it and thought I had a big problem. Nope, grease in grease out seems to be the thing with greasing the prop. Still to this day I see traces of grease on the prop. I'll still grease it, better than not, but maybe cut back the amount in the future. Lot's to learn and that's why I like people being here so we can learn from each other.

I had the same issue with my FX3. Opinions very widely from putting no grease in it at annual (local A&P) to filling it up like “normal”.

When I spoke to Hartzel about it they commented that the old school way of greasing zerks we all learned as “kids” (fill until grease comes out) actually blew out the seal and caused more of an issue. Hartzel’s recommendation to me was to use at most 1 oz of grease which calculates to about 5 shots.

Yup, pretty simple.

New owners - read your propeller manual, it has great info in it (the gray binder). It clearly outlines how to grease it per above and just expect some grease to come out somehow someway and scare you for at least two months! If you make it to EAA AirVenture (Oshkosh) - attend some of the Hartzell seminars. I went to two this past year, they were outstanding.
