So, JP4, who started this cycle? Was it JB? NO! Actually, this entire creation of flying for less wages and benefits was started by the legacies themselves. It all started with AA, PA, Northwest, United et al, when short flights to small cities were needed, and the unions stepped up and said,
"We don't want the small stuff, give that to x,y,and z regional, we'll handle the rest". Once management could see that flying could be done with less cash outlay, the cycle was started. Now you have management creating false business losses to curtail growth, furlough and grow outside of scope and abolish pensions and benefits.
All of this happened WAY before JB was created, but, somehow, it is still our fault.
I'll tell you, I actually enjoy coming to work. This place isn't perfect, tell me what place is. There is room for improvement, the difference is, we as pilots and management can get together and fix our problems, in house.
As far as the hotel, the analogy has been made earlier, why rent when you can own. We are burning alot of cash in this company putting crew members in various hotels around the area. The JB hotel will pay for itself in a couple of years. It is being managed by Marriot and from the architectural drawings, it will be far from looking like barracks.
One final thing JP4, enough with the, "we are drinking from the blue juice, or, HR really got a bargain with us" comments. You can do better than that.
