A good friend of mine interviewed at AWA Tuesday 3 Dec 2002, and is in the new hire class on Monday 6 Jan 2003. That class is tentatively slated to be Airbus. He said 6 people interviewed on Tuesday, and all had letters of recommendation (he had 3 letters), and several were "insiders" or current employees. I'm happy for him, he has wanted to go to AWA from the beginning, rather than the "just gotta work for any major that'll hire me" mentality that exists. He deserves it.
The gouge on Will Fly For Food is still pretty right on. The Weave first (start at 5000-210-180-150-climb 2000-125-descend 2000-150-180-210...Weave the whole time). If sucessful, panel interview. They are still offering the job right their in the interview. They are filling the Jan. 27th class right now. I think they are still working on apps. from 1999. and internal candidates. Do a prep if you can afford it.($375-400) K&S and Premair both use the actual sim that AWA uses.
In order to apply to AWA you must include a job title and Reference code in the subject line of your resume. Under pilot position on the web site it says NO Positions Available. What are you using for a reference code ? Any help is appreciated...
AWA is indeed hiring. I got called for an interview on 12/12, for an interview on 12/17. They still hire in the interview, and they offered me the job starting 01/27. The gouge online is right on. if they call you, it will be 2-5 days before your interview, so have your logbooks up to date, and do a background check on yourself just to make sure you're t's are crossed. The interview was a really friendly affair, if they call you, they want to hire you. They are hiring out of the '99 window right now, and are expecting to hire 160 this year. I would highly recommend the Premair sim prep.
The AWA website says "No Pilot positions Available" How do you apply? If they are hiring why does their website not have any info? thanks...Good luck if you have an interview. What is the 99 window?
The '99 window is the application window that was open in 1999.
I think the trick now is just getting an app. If you know someone there, maybe they can get one for you. They (like everyone else) are interested in people who really want to work for them, not just for folks who are interested simply because AWA is hiring. No airline likes to spend cash to train people who jump ship a year later. In my interview, they had my app. from 1997 also.
Persistance makes a good impression.
