Hello all,
About to start AWA groundschool, any suggestions on where everybody stays ?
will I need a car or can I find a crashpad close to the airport or a hotel with a friendly shuttle service?
any help will be appreciated,
thanks

Bertie Wooster:

Some pilots find crash pads, some stay at a local hotel, hopefully some can get you the name. The rates are really cheap. I think its like $15.00 a night.

There are crash pads close to the airport. Check the board at the training center for locations. Prices vary quit abit.

If you choose to stay at the hotel, you will not need a car. They do drive you to the training center. Classmates usually are willing to help get you around. At least in my class, we tried to help those who did not have cars.

Welcome aboard. You will enjoy it over here.

I stayed at the Homestead Village it is an extended stay hotel at W. Baseline and I-10. I think it was about 30-35 bucks per night but you will need your own car and this was about 4 years ago, It may have gone up since then. If I recall the manager's husband was an AWA Capt and she gave us a discount. But no mater what you will want a car in Phoenix it just makes live easier. If you have any choice try to get the A320 it is an great plane and for all of AWA's problems their training program for the bus is one of the best in the industry.

good luck
