Anybody know anything about flying Westwinds for AVJET in Burbank? I heard they are looking for Westwind pilots??

thanks

Yep, Avjet is currently looking, they have two very clean Westwinds and they fly them both on a pretty full schedule. They usually try to staff them with 5 or 6 pilots so that there is some kind of rotation. It is a good place to work, with plenty of opportunity to upgrade for the right person. I'm probably guilty of drinking the coolaid, but I think it is a good place to work. PM me if you would like more info.

Makesheepnervus,
I've heard good things about them from a UPT pal. Do you know if Avjet requires applilcants to be typed in one of they kinds of A/C's they fly in order to be considered for an FO job, or are they willing to train?. I live nearby but am only typed in the herc and the beechjet which are not so popular in these parts. Thanks in advance.

Is your total time actual time or have you used the military conversion? AvJet will pay to train you and pay you while in training. If your time is not converted, it may be a little low for what they are looking for; however, using the conversion you should be pretty competative. Send a resume and cover letter in, never know what could happen!

AvJet is looking for Westwind pilots, and it sounds like they should be Wyvern qualified...Also, possibly for a position on the East Coast...

Last time I checked Wyvern was something like this:

PIC: 4000 total, 3000 ME, 2000 PIC, ATP?

SIC: 2000 total, 1500 ME, COMM/INST?

Does that sound about right? Are they hiring into both seats?

With the conversion (.2) applied to all my mil time it looks like I might be more competitive. I've seen some posts where guys are using .3 per sortie. I'm still not sure which is the most accepted method, but I guess it depends on the person who's interviewing you.

hdodo,
It sounds like if you use the conversion you would be competitive for the right seat, but they will still type you regardless and you will fly your legs from the left seat. If someone already has the IA Jet type they will be more competetive, but Avjet has no problem paying for your initial type, and yes, they do pay you a salary and expenses while you are in training. In fact, they usually pay you a salary from the first day of indoc. I would expect that the salary would be inline with the industry averages to start, Drudown (I know who you are!) probably has better info regarding salary.

I know you too!!!

Yes, the salary is competative and with new pilots coming on board in the numbers that have been discussed, the schedule will be excellent - for charter!
