You're right Aviatrix, it did. But the 1224 offering an 18% cut stunk too. Esp. after you raked us over the coals for something we didn't even do.
Hvy, there has been a paradigm shift in reality since your alleged proposal and ours. I don't like it, but I'd rather be working with a total compensation package cut than unemployed or taking an even larger cut to go start over somewhere else. Besides, anyone who thinks DHL/DPWN will reconsider is partaking heavily of recreational pharmacuticals, so the real goal isn't to keep the DHL job, rather it is to move on in the ACMI real world rather than try to stay in the DHL dream ACMI world.

And for what it's worth (and I'm not on any pharmaceuticals) I personally am keeping what pressure I can on anti-trust problems with the UPS deal by writing and calling and asking friends to do the same. It may be a futile effort, but I can't see the thousands upon thousands of jobs just go quietly into the night. We have to try.
I have no problem with keeping up the pressure and making the effort, I simply think it a forlorn hope.

So at UPS, every time the boss speaks he tells the whole truth. You have never heard management say whatever they need to as to inflame or mislead. Good for you.How do you explain this article in your local ILN newspaper that your CEO states that he has a new "compelling value proposition" to offer to DHL? He uses all the management codewords for concessions.

[FONT=ARIAL, SANS SERIF]The president of ABX Air believes the company has crafted a proposal the parent company of DHL would find hard to resist. The catch, at this juncture anyway, is getting an audience.[/FONT]
[FONT=ARIAL, SANS SERIF]“We have a proposal that we have put together that we think is responsive to what Deutsche Post needs,” said ABX Air President John Graber on Tuesday. He made his comments following the second meeting of a regional task force formed to address Deutsche Post World Net’s plan to restructure the American operations of its subsidiary DHL.[/FONT]
[FONT=ARIAL, SANS SERIF]ABX Air has not presented a proposal to Deutsche Post since the May 28 announcement of the restructuring plan. If restructuring is carried out as outlined May 28, more than 7,000 jobs are expected to be eliminated at the Wilmington Air Park.[/FONT]
[FONT=ARIAL, SANS SERIF]“We’ve asked to have the opportunity to talk to Deutsche Post about a proposal that we think is compelling,” Graber said.[/FONT]

ABX and ASTAR are the two airlines currently providing carrier service for DHL’s air freight shipments in the United States. Like ABX Air, ASTAR’s air operations are based at the Wilmington Air Park.[/FONT]
[FONT=ARIAL, SANS SERIF]During the task force meeting held on the Wilmington College campus, Clinton County Administrator and Economic Development Director Mark Brooker reported preliminary data on the economic impact if DHL goes ahead with its plan to contract with United Parcel Service (UPS) to carry and sort its U.S. air freight.[/FONT]
[FONT=ARIAL, SANS SERIF]According to Brooker, the economic impact from salary loss for ABX alone, in a worst-case scenario, would be as follows: Clinton County — $80.8 million, Highland County — $54.3 million, Fayette County — $12.3 million, Brown County — $5.5 million and Adams County — $5.4 million.[/FONT]
[FONT=ARIAL, SANS SERIF]Brooker and the task force’s Data Committee are continuing to gather information from other counties that would be impacted such as Greene, Warren and Montgomery counties. The committee also is collecting other types of data in order to give the task force a more complete picture of the financial impact on the region’s economy if the restructuring plan is implemented.[/FONT]
[FONT=ARIAL, SANS SERIF]Ohio Lt. Gov. Lee Fisher joined the meeting by conference call. Fisher said the Ohio Attorney General has put DHL and UPS on notice that the state of Ohio will look closely at the planned transaction for compliance with Ohio’s antitrust law.[/FONT]
[FONT=ARIAL, SANS SERIF]Brown County Commissioner Margery Paeltz asked about the morale of the air park workforce.[/FONT]
[FONT=ARIAL, SANS SERIF]Graber replied, “Everyone [at ABX] is wondering what happens next? In spite of the announcement, ABX Air’s people have turned in exceptional performance for DHL since the announcement. Our average on-time performance has exceeded 98 percent since May 28 — the day we found out about DHL’s intentions.[/FONT]
[FONT=ARIAL, SANS SERIF]“Our folks are focused and they’re interested in doing a good job for a long, long time. And they’re showing it every day,” continued Graber.[/FONT]

ILN is the airport code for the Wilmington Air Park. The ILN stickers are available in the mayor’s office on the second floor of Wilmington City Hall and in the county commissioners office on the second floor of the Clinton County Courthouse.[/FONT]
[FONT=ARIAL, SANS SERIF]Keith Hyde, executive director of Workforce Services Unlimited, reported the Workforce Committee has organized state resources for an initial workforce analysis, and the information will be used if necessary to apply to the U.S. Department of Labor for a National Emergency Grant.[/FONT]
[FONT=ARIAL, SANS SERIF]The grant is a source of funds available from the U.S. Secretary of Labor for specific workforce problems that overwhelm a local or state government’s abilities to respond, according to a media release from the office of the Wilmington mayor.[/FONT]
[FONT=ARIAL, SANS SERIF]A National Emergency Grant could fund a transition center, assessment of individual talents and abilities, up to two years of retraining for employees, supportive service costs, counseling, career guidance, job placement and follow-up.[/FONT]
[FONT=ARIAL, SANS SERIF]U.S. Rep. Mike Turner’s aide Margaret Horst reported to the task force that the federal departments of labor and commerce are aware of the situation.[/FONT]
