I'm going to try this again...a little re-write was in order since too many people here are impervious to sarcasm. :D

What's the corniest, dorkiest thing you've seen affixed to the bumper/license plate holder of a car belonging to a pilot (or wanna-be pilot)? Something that really turned your stomach, like "I love the smell of AvGas in the morning." Or the student pilot with "My other car is a DC-8" on his bumper.

I saw a beater Pontiac product in an FBO parking lot one time. Based on its approximate Blue Book value compared to the vehicles parked around it, I assumed it was the pride and joy of either the local CFI or one of his students.

On the back, the make and model badges had been removed, and replaced with the badges from a wrecked airplane- 'CESSNA', 'STATIONAIRE', 'turbocharged'.

What a tool!

I'll step in line to get the gauntlet here.

As a jump pilot with lots of "diver driver" flight time and hundreds of skydives to boot...I was proud of my accomplishment, so I got a plate that said... DZ AV8R

Around skydivers and such, they knew it meant "Drop Zone Aviator". To all the whuffos at the gas pump or the stoplights in traffic, it must have read "Dizzy Aviator". I got sick of all the non-pilot, non-skydiver pukes smirking...so I went back to regular plates.

That license plate is now firmly riveted onto the front of our drop zone golf cart...it was done as a token of affection by the owners and jumpers at my current DZ.

The dorkiest???

757CAPT

The worst I've seen:

A car parked at PWK with Illinois plate: IFLYVFR

OR..

the beater piece of crap Chrysler with the cheap white plastic license plate frame "I'd rather be flying my BONANZA!" on back and a spinning prop on the front bumper....

Sad....

One I saw at ERAU DAB a few years ago.

a proud plate that said
C172Pilt or something like that.......WORTHLESS!!!

And I hate driving up to an FBO and seeing that liscence plate cover that says "FAA Liscenced Pilot" WOOPTY DOO!

I hate seeing Jettas with Embry Riddle plastic borders on their license plates :)

Can't remember the specifics of it, but a guy had a bumper sticker that alluded to him being bad because he was a pilot.

A crew of us professionally re-did the sticker so that it announced what a bad pilot he was. We also took pics of it and made stickers off the computer that we placed on many of his personal possessions during the short time he worked with us.

It was fun watching him stay quiet out of embarrassment when we knew he was more than a little frustrated.

How about the guy that buys one of those circular stickers from Sporty's to put around his car's gas filler that says "Jet A."

But really,

Brutal.

Yes some of those are cheesy, and are in poor judgement for a professional as Bart said, but dang guys, maybe the 172 pilot felt a little proud about about what he had accomplished. Maybe his wife is proud of him, and she bought him the sticker. As we go farther in the profession, or even get checked out in a 182, we take those stickers off. If we don't go farther for whatever reason, the sticker stays on, and it is forever something to be proud of. Getting a pilots license IS a big deal, Lrjt Capt, if you're a garbage man and no one else in your life would ever even dream about doing it, much less pull it off.

I say, let them be proud of what they've done, even if it seems stupid to you.

Any of you have kids? Ever think you're gonna praise someone for wiping their butt correctly? If you haven't, hopefully you still have time.

I just hope my kids will let me take the "I have a Clean A$$" stickers off their trikes soon. Baby steps man, baby steps.

But, as long as we're at it

I did see UALPLT on the way to work once. C'mon now!

I did like "If I were in an F-16, I'd be home by now". Cool only if he was a wannabe.

What about "My son, and my money, goes to Embry Riddle".

A tad off topic, but I was at the FBO the othe day speaking with some pals at the old flight school....

Guy has "FAA licensed pilot" plate frame on his car.... he is in to fly a 172... anyways, this is the killer - he has a CREW tag on his captains case flight bag....

I keep the CREW tags on my wife's luggage so the FA's will give her a whole can of Coke when she travels.:D TC

Actually I was saying this to give lrjtcptain some ribbing.
