You guys got to look at the big picture.....
1. you are all driving turbo props.... Looks like someone has BIG-SHINEY jet syndrome...
2. you really don't need a type rating to be a CAPT. in your company. Who cares?
3. and the starting salary really sucks.....
plain and simple,
why would anyone want to work at this company?

From what I understand, the people who do work there like it. To each his own. Your post implies a big ego.

after 10 years serving 121 regional to major, furlough...
(my buddy's case.)

who give dxxx about turbo prop, or type rating..
collect all hotel point and airline miles...
NO JUMPSEAT... SPACE POSITIVE ALL THE TIME
I can still put food on my family table... and making 6 figure. (with OT).
yes with P180...

Got a look at one on a sit recently. A very nice crew proudly showed off their ride. I was impressed. Very nice cockpit and I was suprised how that the cabin was larger than it looked from the outside. Saw Goldie Hawn get out of one up in Canada a while back. Before someone gets all worked up, I don't work for them so I am just a witness.

Let me highlight a couple of things that don't suck:

-I just upgraded at 11 months.

-In my 11 months as F/O, I made (including per diem and a little O.T.) about $45K. I'll get back to you in a year and let you know how I made out as a Captain.

-I'm employed at a time when some of my good friends are getting furloughed. (Actually that does suck)

As I've already stated... the airplane is a blast and I don't give a crap about whether I need a type rating to be PIC. My co-workers are top-notch and great to fly with. The company that keeps me employed and allows me to provide for my daughter is absolutely fantastic.

I can't speak to why anyone else works for Avantair, but that's why I do.
