hay Angry - how may people have left?

if you are so unhappy why do you still work here?

For right now, I can work here and live where I live. And I'm not THAT unhappy, I've just seen so many of my good friends get f'd over because of petty, egotistical people. That's it in a nutshell.

How is it that they expect for you to pay 18,000K for a peace of s***t airplane that can be flown single pilot, doesnt require a type rating, and for a company that tries to push pilots to do unsafe things?! I know a couple of people that have left, and didn't hear a thing for about a year. Talked to them a few days ago and they all told me that they got a letter saying "Pay us back in 30 days with 12% interest or we will take legal action." What a crock of sh***.
for 20K you can get 2 737 Type ratings!! I say boy, dont pay this MFkrs anything, get together and dont let this ass****les intimidate you.

Look at it this way.... they want you to pay them back b/c if you pay them back 18K, you're basically paying the next idiot's Initial. So as you can see, they are trying to avoid costs at all cost.
It is also obvious that they are trying to collect their contract now b/c they are still bleeding money away. How can they expect people to actually stay around flying BS equipment, FOs not allowed to fly, and Bills not getting payed.
Last I heard Landmark aviation was not providing anymore charter service for Avantair b/c they hadn't paid their Bill which reached the 100s of thousands.

Wow, some anger there. I wonder what happened to make you so bitter...on second thought, no, I don't really care.

The training contract does exist and it is not prorated. I have to admit that was my biggest problem accepting employment here. And I had no problem guaranteeing I would stay a year, but it's true that if they fire you then you are still technically on the hook for the contract. I can't imagine any company going after you for the cash in that instance, but that is what you sign. I signed it and my year is up so I sleep better.

As for the rest, it's not a peace of "s***t airplane". It's an amazing airplane that turns a lot of heads. It travels 500 miles on 100 gallons of gas in a very spacious cabin that an owner would have to buy a hawker to equal. With the steady rise of gas prices I truly believe that the Piaggo will be a very attractive airplane for the foreseeable future.

I have NEVER been pushed to do anything unsafe. I would quit if I was contracts be damned.

To my knowledge no one has ever been told to pay the contract. I do know of a case where the guy lied about being called active duty and they considered trying to collect. Not sure if they did or not but I wouldn't lose sleep if they did.

Sure, a 737 type costs less. Too bad training costs aren't tied to the size of airplane. Instead the laws of supply and demand govern. There is ONE Piaggio sim in the USA. How many 737 sims are there? I'm thinking more.

FO pay is $35,000 per year. Second year Captain is $53,000 and that is your second year pay. If fact, I've heard that upgrades are most likely going to happen before 12 months.

FOs are allowed to fly.

I have no information of bills being paid or Landmark charters, however that's not my job. I fly airplanes. I do know that I go to Landmark all the time and get any services I order just like any other FBO. The SAT phones all work (used one two days ago) and planes get fixed. I see no evidence on the line to support your claim that bills aren't getting paid.

Like I said, I don't know why you have an axe to grind with Avantair but your hostility towards the place makes me believe you don't have a very objective perspective.

Just wondering if any other frac has a training contract? The one at Avantair from what I understand is a bit stiff. Non prorated for 365 days and various other items. Anyone with any knowledge please shed some light.

What is the washout rate and the people having to pay this?

If you worrry so much about training contract why you care for applying avantair...
you can go to NJ and get free type and do whatever...
