ATP's or Norman, OK>?

If you were going to get your CFII and MEI would you go to ATPs or Norman, OK?

I am trying to decide which. I need a break from this -18 degree weather up here we are having and want to go somewhere sunny. I'm thinking of ATP at a FL location. Any suggestions?

This would be a no-brainer if it were me, go to Airman. A much better set-up, program, and you can get done between 2-3 weeks. The Airman folks have this I/II program down to a science. Do yourself a favor and conduct a board search for those who have attended Airman KOUN. I had nothing but pleasant experiences during my time in Norman with the folks who run and that are involved with this program. I was not overly impressed with ATP's program when I had looked into it.

late edit, the II/MEI would be done under part 61 and since you already have the CFI they should be able to get you in and out in about a week or less.

My vote would be for Airman also. I did my CFI/CFII there in '00. They know the curriculum and know the system. Plus it's guaranteed training, i.e. the same flat rate. The area is decent, plenty of options for food and discount hotel rates. You won't get a tan this time of year, but that's not what you'll be there for anyway. Plus you're in Norman, the home of the Sooners!!! Ozzie's is the place to eat too. Cheap lunch specials. Just my .02. Feel free to PM me if you have any more ?'s.

Too many places to eat here...I've put on 10 pounds since getting in...it sucks!!!

The school's good though...they seem to get the Instructor applicants in and out rather quick...3 weeks at a max. Make sure you call ahead and get it confirmed though if you're going to be strapped for any amount of time...then don't stop harping on them.

Not sure if the duchess is back up yet or not. When I left they had taken the right prop off (something about the vibrations could break the wing off), it had no heater (took it out - wasn't working), they kept having problems with the electrical system (alternator was replaced though), and the right main gear strut was over compressed...

supposedly - mx was supposed to fix it over break and since the weather's been down for the past few days, I can't imagine why any planes would be down when we get to start flying again...

The -II guy (examiner) is a real nazi and I've heard that his -II ride is the toughest here (which makes sense since it's the initial if you do the CFI program here). The MEI ride is (again, from what I hear) a joke. Give him an OEI approach, landing, steep turn, two engine steep turn, approach, landing, maybe a chandelle, Vmc demo and you're done... The last few guys that have done it (that I've seen) were gone maybe an hour (including taxi out and in) so you get the idea.
