This is just pathetic! These reps man up to protect their group and now this???

Here is the auto-reply:

Members of LEC71,
You probably don’t know our names unless we’ve flown together because
we are not the kind of guys who get involved in union politics.
However, we are mad as hell at the direction our MEC is taking, and we
want to do something about it before it’s too late, and we need your
help.

Help us by voting to recall and replace:
• AC, who misled all of us about what was said during the
July meeting with Gary Kelly. His “no” vote and that of the others
effectively muzzled the merger committee, which had planned road-shows
to explain the seniority deal to the pilots, and would have allowed
the pilots to choose their destiny instead of having AC choose it
for them. He has also failed to hold regularly scheduled LEC meetings,
as he is required to do by the ALPA bylaws.

• CJ, who spoke at the last MEC meeting about her
admirable work helping FOs who were furloughed in 2008, and then
denied the same FOs the chance to vote in 2011 on a measure that would
have given them better furlough protection than they have now.

• TH, who joined the “no” voters in ignoring the advice of
counsel, the merger committee and his own constituents who wanted a
say in their future.

It’s time to take back our union and protect our careers from the
angry mob that runs the forum, and denies the will of the majority.

In the coming days, we hope to collect the names and email addresses
of pilots like you who support our cause. Our goal is to get enough
pilots to the next LEC meeting to force a recall vote. In the coming
days, we will email blank proxy forms to those who will not be able to
attend the meeting (which has not yet been scheduled) so that other
like-minded pilots can cast their votes for them. Help us by
forwarding this email to your friends, and ask them to sign-up with us
at
[email protected] with Name/Employee No./Seat Position.
It is time for the “silent majority” to speak up.
Sincerely,

It's time for the "silent majority" to speak up!

Well said. What are they afraid of with not allowing a vote and no roadshows? If the majority thought it was a terrible deal, the vote would have reflected that. Typical ALPA.

GODSPEED!!

My mammy and pappy

told me don't never get in the middle of no family squabbles lessen they's your own.

Here's the deal; The idiocy that MV posted above is the masterstroke of one guy. Here's some of his history;

- When elected to the BOD of the old union. He immediately tried to recall everyone else on the BOD.

- He tried a Recall a few months ago. When it was time for him to put the motion to the assembled meeting he just stood there, mute. He then slunk off.

- Now he's trying it again. He'll be lucky if he's not thrown out of the union this time. He's a pariah and a chump.

Did the AT MC mention to it membership that Herb and Colleen stopped in to see them yesterday ?

Wow!

ALPA will kick you out of the union for exercising your right as a union member? (recall)

Stunning stuff. And you guys think swapa is a bunch of dictatorial a$$hole$

Newsflash:

The recall topic was started by JC. It is on the internal ATN Forum and has gone viral. The -opposition- to this idiot whose entire history at ATN has been to cause disruption of unity, is unparalleled. His reputation and his ridiculous recall idea are toast.

Look, every member has the right to TRY to recall their reps. If he succeeds so be it, but give him credit for using the process.

Thanks for the recognition! The original was nasty...but in a good way. The tranny version would be an instant classic!!:)

Funniest thing I've read in the 10+ years I've been here :)

This is just getting more embarrasing!!!

I obviously knew about the recall, and its motives. But several days ago, I was sent a copy of this letter, which I saw for the first time. Below is the most sickening exceprt from the letter!

Because our voting rights were apprehended by seven individuals on August 18th, the Merger Committee has informed us that Southwest has approximately 500 employees working on the dissolution of AirTran Airways; now known as “Plan B”. That plan will go into effect on September 30th if our MC has not reached an agreement with Southwest Airlines and SWAPA.

From the start of this merger, I was in favor of a peaceful resolution, and knew the great things this group would inherit via the SWAPA CBA. That doesn't mean, though, that I will just bend over and squeal like a pig!

If there was knowledge of this threat back at thee meeting in ATL, it should have been discussed very openly. It wasn't, though, because these threats are completely lame! From what I've heard from SWA guys, this is Gary Kelly 101; give an artificial deadline for some pressing reason and know that labor will cave because of it.

Its so comforting to know that our MC has folded so easily!!! Oakland here we come.:(

MalibuVride or any other AirTran pilot, who was the source of that e-mail? Was it from the ATMEC or another source?

Completely lame? If I were in Gary Kelly's shoes, I'd immediately start fleshing out Plan B after the ATMEC voted 7-1 against the proposed SLI. This is business - fair and equitable don't exist in business or in life. Fair and equitable - that's just a line of crap that Che Guevara clones feed to maudlin daydreamers.

I'm not a tranny, but my friends that are have said there are a group of $cabs who are spreading these recall efforts. They are clearly using a fear campaign of their own. I'm quite certain that GK will be even less impressed with the trannies when they tell him they need more time because they can't make such important decisions while valid recall efforts are in progress. This just keeps getting more interesting!

Good luck narrowing it down since it could be a lot of people on the list over there.

OK, that would explain the 500 number. That's way too high a number of employees. First, it's too many to prevent the story from leaking out through multiple channels into the media and second, it's just too many people. It would have been more believable if the number had been two dozen or so; that's about all the people you need to do a reasonable evaluation. I didn't post my suspicions because I was interested in the reliability of the source. I'm still interested in the source of the letter.

I heard this from a HDQ type this week. It wasn't 500 people working on the evaluation, it was 500 people affected by the evaluation. The entire transition plan has been put on hold for the 717. Several small teams are doing the evaluation and combined the affected number of SWA employees was around 500 since all integration plans have been put on hold.

I bet SWA just spins-off this outfit and simply takes the pieces it wants, IMHO, as I think SWA is beginning to loose interest in some of those "pieces".
