Gotta say hell of a job to you guys/gals. In and out of that airport all day long, 4 days a week. No other place handles traffic of that volume with so much seemingly "stress free ease". You all make it a pleasure. This goes all the way from RON on ramp 3/4, to the last Center controller on the way out. Thanks for keeping us safe. As my as we try to do the contrary.
 
Heh, I see that you're trying to show appreciation, that's cool. But this reminds me...there's always something amusing when pilots will say "nice work" or "good job" or some such to a controller right before they get shipped. As if the pilot had a gauge/grasp on the complexity of the traffic at the time, haha.

We may not be able to see the scope, but we can hear the frequency, and most of us have TCAS. Some controllers handle it very well, and I have heard others melt down. Some give me good approach vectors others forget me and I have to ask. We recognize local controller voices and some of them are calming in bad situations and you hear some voices and know it is not going to get any better.
 
If a controller is good, you will never hear a fluctuation in their voice. I try to make it so I am always putting a smile in my voice, even when im down the Sh**er. (If anyone has had to deal with me when Im sent into Clearance to clean up the mess during TS re-routes, Im sorry :rolleyes:)

CD: "Ok everyone, no one say a word until I call you...ok now...JetLink 2454...you up?"

Random Acft: "Clearance, this is Continental 238, whats our number in line"

CD: "Ok sir I believe I just said dont speak until i call you, so you we're #8, you're now 45...now where was I...oook JetLink 2454 advise ready for the re-toure"


Now I do not mind when a pilot says good job when I ship em to departure. If im busy, thanks for the kudos! Keep the blue side up and green between!!!

First of all, I am not just some stupid pilot that thinks that the rest of your scope revolves around me. Believe it or not, I do understand your job. That is not to say that I could do it. So, I tip my hat to the people that can. Further, you do it with charm, and friendly sarcasm. So again, I say good job, and thank you for keeping us safe.

I'm totally with BCPilot... we may not know exactly what ATC controllers are dealing with, but we have a pretty good understanding of how busy and complex your job is when wx, heavy volume, emergencies, etc crop up and you do your job exceptionally well. It's just a friendly thank you for a job well done. Take a compliment once in a while!

I hear ya, and I understand when pilots give compliments when it's deserved. But often, there are the guys on there who are giving a compliment and there are 3 planes in the sector. And later, in a sector that is OBVIOUSLY down the tubes, a Comair or Jetlink or other regional will pop on "looking for shortcuts"?? Come on buddy, you can hear the freq going nonstop, what pilot is gonna ask for a "shortcut" in that situation??
 
No offense BCpilot81, but the way I see it you are some "nugget" ASA F/O that's never flown into, or out of, any other hub. Come back and post when you get NYC/ORD/DFW/BOS/MSP/LAS/PHX/LAX/SFO hub experience. ATL ain't bad, I really enjoy turning base over South Carolina when ATL is west flow. Cheeser.

To say that I am new at ASA is not really an accurate statement, I am not some 200 hour wonder, and I grew up in Chicago, where a lot of BS freight/Charter work took me in and out of the airspace/airport at ORD. That same job took me all over the country (w/ your examples LAX, BOS, LGA, JFK, etc.) I could go on, but that is just kind childish dont u think? Kind of like calling someone a "Cheeser". Relative to many, I have not been flying long, but 12 years is not "nugget" status as you say either. Next time you want to come down on someone, handle it with a little more tact, and ask questions about their background. I have heard a lot of controllers "lose it" over volume, which I completely understand. Especially when certain circumstances dictate. But, if you read the original post, it had a lot to do with ATL area controllers as a whole, not just tower, app, etc. Courtesy, and getting it done as efficiently as possible is what matters. Besides, long downwind/base; I am all for. I am paid by the minute

I'll give props to the ATL controllers as well...best in the country IMO. Always a pleasure even in the worst of days! Thanks guys & gals!

I've been in and out of EWR, LGA, DCA, ATL, TEB, blah blah blah.....my dad can still beat up your dad.

I'm with BC. ATL area guys seem to consistently handle their load the best. And I'm not downing on the NE Corridor by any stretch, just throwing some credit at the ATL gang.

I do have a serious beef with SOME ATL controllers, when you get under class B it's 200 kts and ATL will be the first to come after you when you go above it! There have been many times coming from the West to land at KPDK when I get under class B and slow to 200kts the controller will ask my speed and once I say 200 kts. they will say, " you were number one, now your going to be in line." Well, make up your mind, what do you want to see. NY, LA, DFW, and CHI want fast and they shut their mouth when you do it for them!!!

SVCTA, why don't you just get over it. You jumped in and started lambasting me. Or did you forget that part? What's your dog in this fight anyway? But I guess you two can continue to have your love fest for ATL.

The rest of us on here, those that actually have some experience flying somewhere besides in the SE, will continue to sit back and watch you two post your opinions on $hit you know absolutely nothing about.

Didn't see you in Dulles last night either. What happend? Oh that's right, you don't fly that far north do you hot shot?

Why do you take such offense over this? What's your dog in this fight? I simply called you out for jumping on someone for giving credit where he thought it was due. How on earth could that be a bad thing?

I particularly like how you decided to invite me to have it "pounded into" me. We ALL know what the kind of person who makes physical threats on the internet really looks like. I'm sure even your pimples were trembling with rage while you typed that.

At the end of this here is what we have:

1. You got upset because someone patted some controllers on the back.
2. You called this person a 'nugget' and jumped all over him claiming that he had no experience and couldn't possibly know what he's talking about.
3. I called you a jerk and agreed with the original poster.
4. You threatened to "pound it in to" me.

Back to the original point of this thread:

Good job to the controllers in ATL. You guys manage the busiest airport in the world and don't seem to jump on us as much as the guys in the N.E. We appreciate your enthusiasm, skill, and the way almost all of you seem to enjoy your work. Keep it up.
