I've seen a commercial on TV the past few days with ATC tapes playing in the background and lettering talking about how controllers are there to serve the public. I think it was sponsered by NATCA. Foregive my ignorance, are you guys in contract negotiations? The commercial never really stated its purpose.

Probably has something to do with the fact that almost every facility is severely understaffed but the FAA's budget won't allow them to hire anyone. If someone doesn't get off of their ass the next few years are going to be very interesting for the ATC world. But why should the politicians care...they aren't going to win any votes by hiring air traffic controllers.

Or more likely, it has to do with Bush's plans to contract out a lot of ATC facilities to 3rd party companies. Another mess waiting to happen.

Good luck to all of the controllers out there...I hope all of this works out for you.
