Does anyone have anything on ATA? I havan't heard much since the potential pulling out of MDW announcement.

1. The company denied that ATA is pulling out of MDW.

2. ATA was awarded a substancial military contract for FY 2005. While this won't solve ATA's problems, it is the first good news I've heard of in months. Stock has gone up 40% in the past few days, although it is still below $3/share.

3. The Negotiations Committee has finished a few concessionary package, but there are rumors that it isn't a good one.

4. It seems the company is moving forward with other unionized labor groups collective bargaining agreements.

5. The company had roadshows at the beginning of the month basically asking the pilots for more concessions. The general consensus is that the company was arrogant and didn't have any real future plan.

6. I just saved a bunch of money on my car insurance by switching to Geico.

7. The MEC announced that initial furloughs will be around 55 pilots.

I hope the MEC is smart enough to inlude no-furlough language in the TA. I'd hate to see a pay cut AND furloughs. (that should be OR, but that's not really an option now, it seems).

That sucks for all the guys/gals at ATA. I hope ATA pulls through. Good luck to everyone there.

Great thoughts Harley Guy,

I only wish there could be some language that would protect jobs. Unfortunately it would probably amount to 50% pay cuts to the remaining senior guys, and I dont see that happening.

However I do understand that, beyond the 50 (or so cuts) supposedly due to a 10% productivity increase, the union does have some say on additional job savings, and how to generate the concession.

Just the way I understood things.

So on a lighter note. Have you earned the Iron Butt Award yet on that thing.

The reason for the upcoming furloughs has nothing to do with concessions. The compnay staffed the airline with the intent of having more airplanes. Weather or not a concessionary package is voted on, there will be some furloughs. If a package is one that abolishes work rules, it will allow the company to furlough MORE people. That is what the MEC must not allow.
