Has anyone tried updating their resume on the ATA website? I sent in my app. end of Jan. and recieved the postcard in Feb. aparently right before they stopped hiring. I get the standard email saying they will respond to my question in 5 days but then no response after that. The status on my resume update is "unresolved". Also does anyone know what the latest is on hiring for the 717's?

Boy, that was a really useful reply.

ATA stopped the hiring process very early this year. At the time they had thousands of resumes from qualified pilots, and more than 800 applications from pilots who were in the interview pool. Even if we start getting new aircraft sometime in the next year, I would doubt that any new applicants would be needed for quite some time.

any word on a possible class...heard there may be one in Aug. Its probably to early to tell.....but its worth a shot! Thanks

I can't honestly comment on the possibility of a class in the near future but I do know that talking to my buds on the light twins (boeing's) that they are pretty fat in staffing. Pretty much the same on the TriStar.

As far as rumors there was one going around about furloughs, but this was shot down when the MEC Chairman spoke with George and he denied the planning of furloughs and said that with the coming of the 100 seat jet hiring will begin again. Now no annoucement of an order yet but it's coming. Maybe something will be annouced by Boeing at Farnborough this month or something will probably come out in the next few months. But I wouldn't expect hiring to start til the end of this year or beginning of next year.

Also going on at ATA is alot of "trimming of the fat". Mainly alot of those losing jobs are those from Temp agency's and contractors and part-timers and such. The pilot group would like to see certain "Bigger" Fat be trimmed from building 3 ;) , but I doubt that will happen. Alot is going to happen within the next couple of years with the new plans, and it will be interesting to see how it all works out.
