ATA question about hiring

I have a question; I have a friend who is going to send a resume into ATA. I think he has a shot. I don’t know how ATA works in their hiring process. His qualifications are as follows:

6000TT
1000multi
500 PIC turbine
DC-3 turbo-prop and piston types
Ford Tri-motor type
And a FAA designated examiner

PS: he has 2 LOR’s one guy works in the training dept, and the other has been with the company over 20 yrs

The word we received from management during new hire indoc. this week was that no further applications were going to be mailed out. This is due to the volume of applications they already have and the number that are still out there that they expect to receive back. They will still accept any applications that are returned, but new resumes will be going into a "box".

Having said that, I don't think that it would hurt your friend to have one of his connections PERSONALLY deliver his resume to the Chief Pilot. We are still a relativley small airline with what seems to me to be a very tight pilot group. Personal recommendations are very important as they like to hire a "known quantity" who will be a good fit. The latest numbers for this year are still 140 to be hired (subject to change hourly).

A ford Tri-motor. It has 3 engines and its a tail drager. Thats all I know about it. Try doing a search on it. Very cool airplane.

I know what a Tri-Motor is.... I was just thuroughly impressed that someone is actually typed on it in this day and age. Very cool thing to have on the back of the cert.

Thanks for the welcome! Everyone here has been fantastic. Beats the H**L out of anywhere I have ever worked before. Our class has 17 total (13 - 757, 4 - 737). No L10's this time but possibly more in the next class.

I sent ATA a resume in December, 2002 (no LOR). I received an application in late August and mailed it back on Sepember 9th. I received a message from Sharon Turley on October 13th at my home. We happened to be on our honeymoon and I did not get home to hear the message until October 20th! Needless to say I called Sharon immediately and was scheduled for a November 3rd interview and Sim. I got the good letter on Nov. 13th and started class on Feb. 2nd.

The latest estimate that I heard was about 30 remaining in the pool awaiting class, about 250 in a "to call" pool for an interview, and about 200 more applications that are expected to be received for review. They are planning to interview one week (three days) every month as long as they have the staffing to do it. Again, this is the best info. that I have and is subject to change rapidly. According to the Chief Pilot, they received about 50,000 resumes last year.
