General Hiring and Interview Information
ATA continues to accept resumes from qualified persons. If you would like to
recommend an individual for a pilot position, please follow these steps:
1. Type a letter of recommendation for the individual. It does not have to be
lengthy, just the basics of you knowledge of this person.
2. Obtain the persons resume or send your letter to the applicant.
3. Send the resume and letter together to the Chief Pilots Office for review.
All applicants that have a letter of recommendation automatically receive applications to
complete, provided they meet the minimum qualifications, which are:
· 2500 hours flight time
· 500 hours multi-engine
· ATP Certificate
· First Class Medical
· College Degree Preferred (but not required)
We mail applications out every 2 weeks. There is now a $25.00 application fee, which the
applicant submits with the completed application.
Note: Do not give out applications if you have any. Applications received that were not
sent from the office will not be accepted. Our applications have recently changed in
content and color, so please destroy any applications you might still have.
We review applications in the order they are received, starting with the applicants that
have been recommended. At this point, the applicant continues through the process on
his or her own merits. Your recommendation is helpful, but the applicant must be
competitive, and currently, the competition is fierce.
FAQ’s
1. Do I have to type the letter, or can I just call in?
· Calling in will not be acceptable for a recommendation. If the person you
are helping is not worth the effort to type a short letter, then are they really
someone you want to recommend?
2. How long does the process take?
· We receive hundreds of resumes and applications and we review them
when needed. From the time we receive the resume and your letter of
recommendation, it will be at least 6 weeks before they could be called for
an interview, assuming they return the application immediately after
receiving it. I most cases, it is longer than that based on the qualified
applicants ahead of them already set to be called.
3. Can I check on the status of a friend?
· Certainly, you can call your Regional Chief Pilot, or better yet, email them
and they will contact our office to get an update. Please leave a message
