Hi folks,
thanks in advance for you help.

The point is I sent my app. back in 10/29/03 and no invitation for interview yet and now I got a ground school at MESA starting at 12th. I know ATA has no comparison with MESA but I feel myself as a jerk if MESA send me to the sim and than I just jump out to ATA. But ATA also can take a while to call me for an interview and I cannot stay w/o a job. So I read here that ATA will resume interviews at mid JAN I know they have me on the computer already as I just updated my Cell. number.

What to do? if ATA calls me for an interview just jump out of MESA or I should call ATA and let them know I am going to MESA and try ask them if they have an interview date already????

Go to Mesa!

Go to Mesa and do your best there. IF ATA ever calls, go to the interview and wait and see if you get an offer, and if you do and want to move on, move on. Its business, not a social contract. Don't wait for another airline to call, go get the job you can now.

DO NOT call ATA and tell them you have another job offer and were wondering if they were planning on calling you in for an interview, you will never hear from them again.

Go to Mesa, and wait to see what happens with ATA. If they do call, go with a clear conscience.

Good luck.

FJ

Did you have a LOR from an ATA pilot? If so, have that individual email IND and see what your status is. This way you'll know if you are in the "to interview" pile or "non-competitive" pile. Hope this helps and good luck.

You won't be a "jerk" for jumping a job for one that is better. Its a business and they have already accounted for a number of departures. They consider it a cost of doing business. If they thought they could get away with it (i.e. continue to fill classes) they would give you a training contract. BTW, you may do the Mesa pilot group a favor if management decides it needs to make the job more attractive due to departures.

Is it an integrity issue? Your call. Fantasizing about another job and what you MIGHT do is not disloyalty in my book.

off-topic:
(I think management's stealing of money from the companies they run (UAL, UAir, Delta, AA) is far, far worse. Not to mention senior management at more healthy carriers. They all make huge bucks and give new hires squat. Look at all the golden parachutes airline execs have exercised. I personally believe that Mullin and Carty new their questionable actions would force them out. And they were paid handsomely JUST TO LEAVE EARLY. They wanted out to pursue other jobs or to sit on the beach drinking. Business is about maximizing your opportunities, company wise and personally.)

BTW, I remember someone on this forum that started at ATA and left for JetBlue before his training contract took effect. He was in phase two while in training at ATA. I make no judgment on that situation. That person might not have passed phase two and would have had a great career at ATA. Lesson--don't put all your eggs in one basket. With timing so critical in our profession, opportunities have to be jumped on when offered.

I would focus on the fact that if ATA does not call you want to be at Mesa. Focus on the present and pray for new opportunities.

Regards.

Guys thanks very much for all answers, for the support and for the advice.
I will do concentrate on what I have right now that is MESA I don't have a LOR but I am minority and heavy jets experience, MD11 2830hrs plus F100 733hrs and 7550TT (don't know if it helps).
Anyway MESA is what I get and my GS is starting 12th it's not my main goal but will do fine for the time until I get called some major (hope soon) and stop moving jobs forever.

Thank you and GOD bless you and your families.

Sayagain

What does it mean if you are in one or the other stacks "to interview" pile or "noncompetitive" pile? Will you still get called later if you are in the Non Competitive pile with a LOR.

Lingeringho,

Just curious why you felt you needed to mention that you're a minority? Does this better qualify you for the job?

If your application is placed in the "non-competitive" pile, then you will not be called in for an interview. You're free to try again in 6 months.

If you are not offered employment after an interview, then you have to wait one year to re-apply.

Sayagain

So, your saying their is know way you still can get called if you are not compatible, even six months down the road. You say try again in six months that mean update or the whole nine yards again. A employee told me your still available to be called just not immediately. What do you think? Thanks

If you send in an application and it doesn't make it pass the review stage, ATA will not call you in for an interview. The process is stopped right there and you are free to try and start over 6 months down the road.

If the application scored high enough, then you have to wait for an invite to IND. Who knows how long this could take? Some are called within a month or two from the time they sent in the application. Others wait for months.

Does this help?
