I am looking to make some contacts at ATA. Could anyone from the company answer some questions about ATA's future outlook (possible sale?), interview process, training, etc?

Sincerely,

I received the postcard, and therefore don't have high hopes of interviewing anytime soon (ref: posts on related threads). However, I'd like to find out the following, if possible:
(1) what it's taking competitively to get an interview invitation
(2) whether anyone is hearing back, after an application update, by means other than another application and subsequent fee
(3) any details about the interview process
(4) if all interviews are held in IND
(5) what the typical training process is
(6) what news, if any, there is on a potential sale of the company, and
(7) what the typical/standard training process is

All inputs are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sincerely,

1) and 2) Not sure. Very competitive right now. We fly a lot so they like local folks but not at all mandatory.

3) look at aviationinterviews.com and search this site. Straight forward with a simulator eval in 727 at Purdue(T/O, departure to holding, ILS, land). Don't land without tower clearance. Very easy. I recommend going to Purdue a week early to fly it. I think they hire for attitude.

4) Yes

5) and 7) Train to proficiency. Haven't heard of anyone failing out. We have immensely qualified individuals being hired and the training program IMHO is first rate. Years ago I heard the 757 program was weak but it is now much, much better. 737 training is often done at Delta. The one ATA 737 sim is in Marietta GA.

6) sale of the company? News to me but we would be the last to find out. I never say never but our CEO owns more than 50% of the stock. It's his call. Financials are just now getting better. My bet is on no.

There was an infoline out I believe last month (January) by George Mikelsons stating his intent to not sell off ATA. There have been potential buyers expressing interest, but at this time there is not plans to sell off the company. Who knows what willl occur five years down the road, but for now that's the good word from the boss man.

FlyBoeingJets and FlyChicaga,

Thanks for the replies. I'm obviously very interested in the company, and would like to make this move, if given the opportunity, to enhance and finish out my long (hopefully) career. I don't live and work too far from IND now, so locality would not be an issue for me.

Can anyone else provide any feedback for questions (1) or (2)?

To reply to your feedback on a potential future sale, the Rangers owner probably said it best with "Alex Rodriqez is not going anywhere".

Cheers,
