Are you being sarcastic? Part of what's cool about working charters is that you price your charter fees such that you'll make money above your operating costs... and frequently, the charterer pays for the gas.

The problem with charter is the cost of having airplanes sit around, especially if the lease rates are high on fancy airplanes (DC-10s and L1011s are not fancy, expensive airplanes to lease relatively speaking).
