I just recieved my ATA application and was looking for advice from
anyone who recieved an interview invitation.

I understand there are gouges available for the interview itself
however, these essay questions require some thoughtfulness
also.

Thanks!

I see this is your first post on this board. The ATA hiring process has been discussed quite a bit here. The best thing is to go to the search option, use ATA as a keyword, and search in titles only. You'll get quite a bit of reading material from this.

As for the application, work very hard on the essay questions. Be clear, concise, and truthful. Some have typed their responses on a separate page and enclosed it with their application. Whatever you decide, be neat. Find someone who knows proper grammar and correct spelling to proofread your essays.

Hope this helps. Good luck.

Brad

Thanks for the response and advice Brad.

I am scanning the board for background information
and will continue to monitor it for current ATA events.

I was told by 2 ATA pilots to MAKE SURE you type the essay answers. This application is truely your interview, minus the sim. and lunch meeting. I was told they dont care how long the answer is. If it's 4 lines great, if you need to add more pages, fine. Just represent yourself properly.

I was told by Mike Gerdes, the Regional Chief Pilot who reviews the resumes and apps, that he absolutely doesn't care if the app is typed or printed - as long as it is LEGIBLE. Poor formatting of a typed app could well be more annoying than a hand - written one. Being able to effectively read the app is the primary concern. Also, He said the essay questions can be written on the app itself or submitted on a separate sheet, but they shouldn't constitute a short novel if not on the app. Be clear and concise.

Good luck, and don't delay in getting the app in. Time is wasting.

Hey guys,

I printed my app and was interviewed 9/16 and have a 737-800 class starting 1/6. I traced the area provided for the answers on to a seperate sheet and did a trial run to make sure my answer fit into the area. Good Luck!

I made a copy of the app, wrote out my answers on the copy, then re-wrote them on the actual app. I got the job so I guess I did okay. ;)
