Anyone know any details? Merger or aquisition? Pilots and equipment?
Integration or staple?
This business often sucks, but it's seldom boring!

Quote from Planebusiness: From what I understand, an update on the negotiations was presented to pilots at AWA on Monday.

If our MEC knows anything they haven't spilled the beans to the rank-and-file. I'd still file this one under rumor rather than fact.

On an unrelated note, AWA will open LAS as a crew base on Jan 31.

Just read on Yahoo ATAH board that there may be a three way merger/aquisition in the works. Best of luck to those invloved. Mergers SUCK!

This is not the three way I had in mind.

Yeah, but you'll probably still get F**ked!

Good luck to all the ATA people.TC

I just came off a five day and every employee at every station I went to said that a "big" announcement is coming "in the next few days". The other one was that there has been a lot of company traffic between IND and PHX with tons of lawyers in IND. Maybe we rented out some meeting rooms for the Indiana Bar Association to generate some revenue.

Something big is going on. Even the Arizona Republic reported Parker in IND last week.

Planebusiness.com reported that our MEC was briefed on Monday. Holly doesn't seem too happy about a outright merger and I have to agree with her.

Merging airlines doesn't get AWA out of ATA's really high front loaded lease rates. It would also require us to assume a lot of debt. AWA is already one of the most leveraged airlines in business. We don't own anything except the PHX MX center.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a TWA senerio play out where ATA declares bankruptcy in a pre-packaged deal with the creditors so AWA can renegotiate lease rates and dispose of the L1011's. I could also see SWA given access to some of the goods to avoid a large competitive bid played out in bankruptcy court. Remember Gordon Bethune screaming lawsuit right after the AA/TWA merger. I'm sure he's glad he didn't sue now!

Anyone hear anything else?

After hearing more and more, I don't think there will be anything big announced.

Maybe a code-share?

Some geek on the airliners.net site is suggesting that a deal is in the works for SWA to take over the -800s. So many experts, so little knowledge...
