I heard from a friend that ATA has purchased a 717 simulator. Any one out there know about this or is it just another false rumor?

I would say that is just a rumor, a 717 simulator would anywhere between 12 million to 15 million dollars. ATA would never in their right mind order a 717 simulator directly without the backing of Boeing. Now, if ATA were to place an order for about 30 aircraft, then, Boeing would probably throw a 717 simulator into the deal.

Did TWA / American have a B717 simulator(s)?

Alteon (Miami) sold theirs from what I've heard.

TWA had a B717 sim

TWA had the better of the two sims. It was based at the TWA training center in St. Louis. I am not sure how many sims exist now. I think the other was is Long Beach, CA, but I'm not sure.
