Anybody know how to get an Astar App?

Astar only gives out applications duing the face-to-face interview.

:)

okay so a resume is first and then the face to face? How do you get a face to face?

Diesel,

Well, all you can do is mail a resume in to the home office. If they like what they see, they will call you, and conduct a phone interview. If you do ok on that, then they'll invite you in for an interview, which will include a First Class physical, a general Q&A with a pilot board, a chat with HR, and a simulator evaluation. Normally the sim. eval. is in the 727, but they also will do it in the DC8 as well. Everything is straight forward. No curves, sliders, etc. Just relax and be yourself. We're real laid back here.

Times & Backgrounds

HvyD -
Thanks for the info.

I received the following qualifications list in response to a recently sent resume. I'm sure others have received the same:

2500 Hours Total Pilot Time
500 Hours AMEL-PIC, preferably with certificated carrier
ATP certificate, AMEL, preferred type rating
Current 1st Class Medical
FEX Written, Passed within 24 months
Minimum 2 Years College preferred
Restricted Radiotelephone Operations Permit
Current Passport

Would somebody with these minimum times stand to receive a telephone interview? If not, what's more realistic? What's an average profile for a new hire? Times/aircraft flown/135,121,91 etc. Thanks for any input...

Regards,
2lt

2lt,

If you've got the mins, you've got just as good a chance as anyone else. Also, if you have anyone you know that works for Astar, (and I mean _know_) that too will help a lot, esp. if you're a little shy on time beyond the mins. As to average times, etc., we haven't hired in a little over 4 years, so I couldn't tell you. Sry.

I both emailed and faxed mine. Here's a link that'll list all necessary info:

http://www.astaraircargo.us/contact/index.html

If that doesn't work, go to: www.astaraircargo.us

Click on 'contact us,' scroll to the bottom for an email address under 'careers.' Also, there's a snail mail address for their headquarters in Miami.

Regards,
2lt
